  3. If you disturb the sand too much, there will be leakage of nutrients, same for live rock, if there are too much dead zones (no flow area), over time nutrients (debris) will accumulate there, and leakage will happen. What i suggest is to reduce lighting, i once had a serious red slime problem but i use Chemiclean Red Slime Remover to remove them, works great for me, even my snail's shell became clean lol, but some reefer dun really recommend them. After tht i just stock more sand dollars and strombus, which kept my sand clean.

  6. Guess i will go get some garlic solution, any recommendations? I was thinking of adding tang into my LS in the future, but if i do not remove the parasite, do you think the tang can survive?
  7. Thanks for the replies is there any way i can treat it in main tank with inverts and corals ? (cowfish is eating like pig though) I do have a spare tank, but it's a 10 gallon nano. Furthermore, if i gonna QT all my fish which are 2 clowns 2 gobies 1 cowfish, i dun think it is possible too... On top of this, i need to cycle my nano
  8. Any bros can tell me whether that is ich? parasite? or norm? This Cowfish is a new resident in the tank, and according to the LFS it is fully cured from ich.... However I can see some tiny white spot on the fin, but is will just disappear tml and come back the day after randomly.. At first there are white spots on its eye, but 2 days later it's gone, till now no spots on eye, it's been in the tank for nearly 2 weeks. I got no QT... so if it's ich.. need some advices...
  9. went to sim lim tower... cant find it.. or maybe i am blind. Shop keeper recommend me to use fox.. so ya i am using fox now, relatively easy to fix up as there are actually circuit drawing in the manual unlike my old eliwell.
  10. Hey bros, As you can see from the picture, my brain is bleaching real badly... i try moving it to different positions (high flow to low flow, near to the light, hide it in shade) for the pass 2 weeks, but it's not helping.. I dose calcium and bacteria regularly, and only feed once a day... no LS is bothering with it either.. My water parameter for CA is around 400, and for nitrate is 10 and below, temperature is 26-28, lighting i am using is 4 x 24w for my 42gallon IOS, taking away the IOS compartment only around 30gallons ++ are available for the main tank... i have other corals, like hammer, elegances, plate, leather, shrooms... all are well and opening fully.............. only this brain is having problem... Any advice for me??
  11. ahh damn... it's dead ...........zzz
  12. Some kind soul please get this creature out of my tank !! price reduce $5 !!
  13. Hey bros, anyone know where i can get eliwell thermostats and the price? Reason of wanting this brand is that i got all the wire ready, just that my old thermostats (eliwell) is not functioning due to some accident.... Hence i plan to just replace that thermostat module duplicating all the wire connection position. thanks in advance
  14. np, it's ok I went to adjust my setup, gd news is i manage to cut the vertical distance to below 1m... bad news......... while adjusting... my pipe came loose ......... and the water went straight into my external thermostats..... now it's not functioning anymore i disassembled everything, letting it dry now..... hopefully it will revive... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! sry.. feel like screaming.. in case it's dead (TOUCH WOOD x 1mil times), anyone know where i can get "eliwell" thermostats? i took a photo of the wire assembly, quite confident that i can "DIY" one myself... haiz.... and i plan to slp early tonite, and look at the clock now...
  15. wah where did you get the chart, i search damn long cannot find. looking at the chart i think i need to reduce the distance to 1m... omg
  16. Hey bros, My tank is a 42 gallon / 160L IOS tank. I am connecting a Hydor L40 2800L/hr directly to chiller and back to my main tank. The Chiller is on the floor, total distance from the pump(Inside IOS) >> chiller >> tank (Main Tank Compartment) is around 2m+ This pump is also acting as my filtration pump. Originally was using a Atman 2000L/hr pump for chiller only, but due to space constraint in the IOS, there are inefficiency for chilling. (Inlet and outlet are in IOS, hence partial of the newly chilled water continue to get chilled again. I tried to connect the outlet to the main tank, but it will mess up my sand without any form of L shape deflector, and the overall visual of tank will be ruin with so many outlet.) After switching to single pump, the chilling is much faster, but am worried that the flow rate is not strong enough for both filtration and main tank. Keeping LPS, soft and fish. 1) Do i need to add additional wavemaker? 2) Anyone know the headloss at 2m for hydor L40 2800L/hr? 3) Is the filtration suction strong enough given the headloss? 4) Any suggestion without spending too much money ?
  17. take a look at post #5, most of the basic information on chiller are there
  18. Generally: FOWLR below 30 degree should be find LPS and softies below 28 degree SPS below 26 degree but bare in mind temperature fluctuation is also very important, try to keep it within 1 degree difference... Since your chiller can only chill until 27 degree (according to your previous thread) and i assume u just started this hobby, you can try keeping LPS and softies 1st, they are easier for beginner, and you can continue using your existing chiller. BUT this does not mean that they are easy to keep, rule of thumb and good husbandry still applies here. my 0.02
  19. How old is the chiller? Are you using external thermostats? How big is your tank? If the size of the chiller is suitable for ur tank, there should be no problem hitting 26 degree. You might wanna take it for servicing, or ask people (aircon servicing man) to refill the chiller gas, but for resun it might be better to just get a new chiller. Heard stories that when resun chiller require gas refill, even after refilling, it will stop chilling efficiently after awhile, maybe some bros can verify this. If you really wanna wash your chiller, just open it up, clean away the dust from the heat sink, and the front cover, but do so only if you know what you are doing, but i don't think it will help. If your 7 hours refers to it kicking in continuously for 7 hours... you are burning your electricity bill and putting a lot of stress on the chiller.. I have the same chiller, am having no problem chilling it from 27 to 26 degrees in 20 mins, the chiller is around 2yrs old. My tank is a 40 gallon tank. Just a gauge for you to use it as a benchmark.
