  1. Hello,

I also face problem at this stage of setting up a new tank.

I tested my tank and has detected zero reading for ammonia and nitrites but after I introduce a few fishes into the tank and on the 2nd day my test for nitrites went from light blue to purple (2.0 ~3.0 ppm).! I used API test kits ! but ammonia was clear! the fishes are still alive but why? Do I have to try to get the nitrites down to "0" light blue and alway keep it "0"?

if I have fed too much! I should have reading for ammonia but instead I have high reading for nitrites ? puzzling ....

    Regards

    Ronnie

That means the BB the converts Ammonia to Nitrite is establised already but not those BB that converts Nitrite to Nitrate. Don't stock up more fishes and monitor your ANN readings till you get zero for both ammonia and Nitrite.

  2. Selling salifert test kits for Ammonia (NH4), Nitrite (NO2), Nitrate (NO3) & Phosphate (PO4). All test kit should have at least 50% more.

Reason for selling, NH4, NO2 n NO3 was used for cycling tank. PO4 changed to more sensitive test kit as now into SPS.

All test kit expire date is in 2013. Although the ammonia expire date was torn off it, it should expire in 2013 too as it was bought together.

Selling for $7 each. Take all for $20. :groupwavereversed:

    Collection at Sembawang.

Interested party pls SMS/call me at 97676950.

  3. I think I got check Salifert Ca expiry date before and it should be sometime in 2014. Hanna checker Procedures itself already calls for a callibrated of the checker with RO/DI water.

I think the question now is which is more accurate in terms of the method in which the test kit gets the results. Salifert itself need me to determent when the co our change while Hanna checker uses digital spectrometer(I think).

Maybe I'll test the Hanna checker with the test sample from Salifert.

  4. Hi guys, recently I got my hands on the Hanna Calcium test kit. Just tested it and it gives me a reading of Ca - 520. All along I've been using the Salifert Ca test kits which gives me a reading of 430ppm.. Understanding that the Salifert test kits requires me to count drops and see colour change while the Hanna test kit is digital. But the difference seems too big. Now I'm totally confuse as to which test kit to trust?

Btw. I used the Hanna test kit twice, first reading, 533ppm. Second reading, 520ppm. My Salifert test kit almost always give me a range of 410~450 ppm.

  5. i dun understand why need to have 20 post before posting in pasar malam. anyone can explain? :groupwavereversed:

From what I see in other forum, this is to prevent anyone from creating a temp account and postin sell/buy and then run off or disappear if something happens. Saw it quite often on some forums.

  6. Was thinking of keeping some clearing crews like sea cucumber, alage blenny, tuxedo urchin, sand sifting star and boxing shrimp.

Fishes like coral beauty, flame angelfish,Powderblue tang, clownfish, six line wrasse,Royal Gramma Basslet, yellow globy,Bartlett's Anthias, Splendid Leopard wrasse,Mandarin Dragonet.... list actually goes on but is constraint by the size of the tank... :(

I wanted dottyback, yellowtail dameselfish and fairy wrasse but heard that they are either too agressive or they may potentially jump out of the tank. Is that true???

Do note that tuxedo urchin eat coralline algea so I wouldn't recommend it to a new tank.

  7. WAh.. how many ml ah?? hmmm...
