  1. Hi Thomas,

I'm using the first method ie flow to chiller and chiller to sump (2nd compartment not return pump compartment). The return pump rate is 5000 l/hr. think should be enough.

    Hi lyz77,

What is the external probe? How does it work? Can you advise me further?

    Thanks.

  2. The pump that I'm using is Rio 14. Is the flow rate alrite? The reason that I'm using such a high flow rate pump is the distance from my sump to my chiller is slightly more than 3 meters and the chiller is placed on top of my fridge. So how do I know that the flow rate is within the recomended rate?

  3. Hi I have just bought a Resun CL650 and was wondering what is the idea kick in time and time to chill the water. Currently I have set the temperature to 27 degrees. I noticed that the chiller kicks in every 15-20 mins and the time for it to cool down to 27 degrees is less than 5 mins. I am using a valve to control the water input to the chiller. My tank is around 390 litres. Can anyone advise if this is normal (the kick in time and chill tiime) as I am afraid that it might over run the chiller. What is the CA on the chiller display means when I press and hold on the Set button? Thanks a lot.

  5. yeah, sorry, i meant CL650. make sure that your pump is big enough to pump up to 6ft at the required flow rate.

Any idea what kind of flow the pump will need in order to pump it to a 6 ft high? Was thinking of using at least 3000+ l/hr pump (maybe ehiem 1264) Wonder if it'a alrite? Thanks.

  6. i think u should worry more abt the pump that is supplying the water to the chiller...6ft is quite high u noe...

Hi Gerrad, tat's rite. Thinking of using at least 3000l/hr pump that can go up to a height of at least 3 meters. But do you think CL650 can go with such as pump as the recommended pump is between 1500l/hr to 2500l/hr?

  7. I would recommend the C0500. I am using one for a 600 litre tank n sump. Such a 1/2 HP size chiller is a little noisy though. I put mine outside and ran pipes to the tank (about 3 metres).

The CL450 might do the trick, if you dont want to go too cold (26 or27 shd be OK), and it is a bity quieter than the C0500.

Do you mean CL650 is ok instead of CL450? Is there a typo error? But if I were to run it at 25 degrees, can it support?

  8. Hi, can any 1 advise me on which model should I get for my 36" x 22" x 30" main tank and 32" x 16" x 16" sump tank? But the placement for my chiller will be on top of my fridge which 6 ft high and the distance will be around 2-3 meters apart. Please advise me. Thanks a lot.

  9. Hi, tis is my first tank. Setup on the 30th May and LR were placed on the 2nd Jun. Still under the cycling stage. Planning to start with simple and easy corals. Hope that you can guide me along, thanks. Tanks under 2 x 36W T5. Please give me your comments. ;)

  10. Hi Andylee, there is some hand written notes on the instructions by the lfs owner. It states that 8-12 drops turns yellow. Does that mean it's alrite and within the limit and no need to add ph buffer?

  11. Hi, I have just bought TetraTest KH test kit but there is no English instructions. Have anyone used it b4? I have asked around and someone told me to add 1 drop and the water will turn blue. After that, continue to add until the water turns yellow. If the water turns yellow after adding 8-12 drops, does that means that the water is alrite? Does the 8-12 drops include the first drop? Do you need to shake the water after every drop as the water will turn yellow at the surface of the water after every drop. I have tried last nite and the water still remains blue after the 9th drop and turns yellow after the 10th drop. What does that mean? Please kindly advise. Thanks a lot.

  12. Hi, I have bought a pair of true percula clown last week and both of them kept swimming against the current and at the top of the water surface. They keep twitching and shaking their heads as if they are trying to shake off something. There is no visible signs of white spots. I had tried using Octozin to treat them for the last couple of days but 1 of them had died this morning. Sigh. I noticed that part of the body of the died clown had a whitish/dustie patch. Do anyone know what kind of diease and treatment to be used? Thanks a lot.

  13. Hi All,

I bought a pair of true percula clowns from coral farms a couple of days ago, but the moment I off the lights the smaller of the 2 went bonkers and swam like crazy and the colors fades off. The bigger one kept chasing and biting the smaller one. I got no choice but to on the lights the whole night. But during the day when there's day lights, I off the lights and they dun fight. Is this normal for new fish? Can anyone please tell me how to prevent this? Thanks a lot.

  14. I have noticed that my reefers had this kind of sump design but I read in Melev's reef website that this kind of arrangement has no benefits as the micro fauna (copepods, amphipods and more) that you hope to send up to your display tank as food are going to be skimmed out of the water before they ever reach the Return zone. He suggested using this arrangement: Skimmer -> Refugium -> Return. How true is this? Can anyone advise?
