  1. Hi FuEl,

Just bot a small marine sources skimmer yesterday. Where do u keep the water level for effective skimming ...it tend to stay at the upper part of neck. I tried to  tune the water level to the middle but not possible even with opening more of the air valve.

And do u raise the skimmer since it is quite short ? :thanks:

    hi.. Nic A Jon,

    I have PM you

FYI- new skimmer need about 3days to break in, see how THICK the skimmate collected after 3days and you may try to rise if you find it too low.

  2. Hi octopus bay, what is the function of the submerged curved hose in your top up box diagram? is the fresh water topped up thru that hose while the other straight one to allow air in when water level drops? why is the hose curved?

    Hi Alentino,

Aqualan have stop production for the Nurce. My friend in Taiwan - also my supplier in Aquarium Equipment, is currently testing on this box and may do something similar.

i will get more details for you on your question. Meanwhile you can find out more from www.aqualan.com

  3. A reservoir and a siphon which is controlled by the air pressure in the reservoir. The air pressure in the reservoir is controlled by the water level in the sump or aquarium. Fluid is automatically siphoned from the reservoir whenever it is needed, in order to maintain the water level in the sump or aquarium. This occurs until the fluid in the reservoir is depleated, after which the reservoir quietly waits to be refilled. If set up properly, priming the siphon is only required once at the initial setup, which makes the refilling process a breeze. The reservoir replaces only the amount of water lost, even though the evaporation rate may vary. The current version can replenish fluid at a rate of up to 5 gallons per 30 minutes.

sorry this should not post is this forum, should be in marine equipment.. hehehehe

But can think about how to DIY.

  4. I have used this type of switch before... It is a low level alarm switch which is installed at the bottom of the vat holding liquid.. at a certain head above the NPSHR of the pump inlet. Normally, we have always drilled a hole in the vat and then installed the switch partially.. i.e. half in and half out. Only the float end is in contact with the liquid. Even then, we would normally add another two or three layers of silicone to ensure that it is completely waterproof. It is def not a good idea to just immerse the float switch competely in the water... Pump that we were running... say low end abt 6000kW and the highest end abt 20.5MW pump... high wattage enough... but i digress... Safety is very important... especially when it comes to electricity... you cant see it but it can kill you if you are not careful....

For our marine hobby, why not just incorprate a DC system or loop... would it not be safer and better instead of just wanting to go ahead with the AC method... B)

    Benz,

Yes... Agreed... is the matter of AC and DC... (BIG CURRENT AND SMALL CURRENT)

Will look into it and improve on this.. THANK YOU ALL THE COMMENTS....

    AT,

I gain from the comments... hehehehehehe

  5. Cookiemunster,

Dont worry... We are all learning everyday.

I have email to our England supplier, about their design given.

For your info: This Switch is used in the liquid industires, switch "attached" in a "HIGHER Wattage pump" "submersed in a liquid tank to draw liquid".

Usage is to STOP the pump flow when the liquid level is low.

We have check with the supplier on usage and we gather more information and post it.

    ALL COMMENTS ARE GOOD COMMENTS.

  6. Hi

I just want to bring up the above issue, having a AC device in a water filled tank. Can anybody advice on whether a AC submersible pump is safe to use. Thankx.

i think the same answer from my friend

    advice to use grounding

  7. Mr. Cookiemunster,

    Cool Down......

    Dont worry... for safety issue...

About this safety issue too all reefer. We have contacted a friend who is a engineer in PSB. Will get result of this matter this afternoon.

We want make sure the UK given design is safe to all.
