Hi,its been almost 4 months im into this wonderful hobby.Any newbie here find that their electricity bills shot up after getting into this hobby?

Mine increased to more than $100 per mth!!emoji28.pngemoji28.png

You said "increase to", meaning before tank, your full electricity bill was below $100.  After tank, it is over $100.  So how much was the increase itself due to inclusion of tank?

And what is your tank capacity/size?

Yea agree with the bros who have commented above; the sheer volume of Aiptasia would make natural predation or manual intervention an uphill battle. It’s a numbers game, & plus a whole new anemone can regrow from a new fragment.

My approach would be to remove the rock, soak in vinegar, then bleach. This guarantees 100% removal of the aiptasia on this rock. Just note that the bleach & vinegar must be done separately, not together as together they generate gases that are dangerous for our respiratory system!!

Yes, if you use this method, please make sure all Vinegar are washed away before introducing Bleach.  These 2 liquids mix to produce Chlorine, which is toxic/poisonous at high levels.

  3. I have always had this impression that Carpet Anemone is dangerous, as your tank inhabitants could accidentally swim/walk too close to it and touch its sticky tentacles, thus become anemone food.

Would like to hear more comments and feedback on this coral.  Thanks.

  4. You already know it yourself.  1 gallon is way way too small for an octopus, and that is an understatement.

Not meaning to be rude or anything, but don't even think about adding anything into the tank.  You will only be crowding out the limited space, reducing the water volume and sending the nutrients way up higher than what I suspect is already very high  That it is surviving, doesn't mean it is not suffering.

Please do yourself and the poor octopus a favour, and get a bigger tank for it.

You will feel more at ease and so will the octopus.

i bought my pods from pinnacles, those in the bag and a friend told me it was from a farm in lim chu kang. it is only $5 a pack and my tank can see full of pods everywhere.

Do you siphon the pods out before adding to the tank?  Or pour the whole bag content (ie. pods and water) into tank?

  6. Have a huge Toadstool that need to trim.

If anyone can come collect before 1pm, frag is yours for free.

    FCFS, contact Nine0two200two1.

Pls confirm before coming down to avoid disappointment.

If it throws up & retracts a slime line, it could be a vermetid snail. They usually attach themselves to a hard surface though. Can you see any tube-like structure on the underside of the toadstool?

Yes, it throws and retracts a slime line. Could be a vermetid. But I don’t see any tube under the toadstool.
