  1. In terms of reliability, Teco is tops...used by many LFS. Scout around and the small Teco can be bought for around $800.
  2. Need to see if I can find space. Can I chop first till I measure my room.
  3. IMO, if it doesn't spread then its not worrying. If you see more coming out, better bring the plate out from the tank, regardless of what it is.
  4. The 3 ft display tank at Marine Life (Hong Leong) is using a Prizm and mine too. Really much better than Orca or even Sander. I upgraded from Sander to Prizm and since then no regret.
  5. Phang, I remember you are a SPS fan. Just wondering how you put Mantis with SPS and other corals. Are Mantis Reef safe. How about your hand when you put in new corals?
  6. Anyone here from LFS or farm would like to host the event with "Yu Sheng" thrown in? I would raise both hands.
  7. Thanks Newdamsel and AT, You put me as ease for the moment. Almost thought of restarting my whole system of 1.5 years.
  8. Need some advise...Anyone can help? I have had a 4X2X2 for over 1.5 years. It was converted from FW and rests on a standard metal stand. Recently, discover it's coat is peeling and powdery rust appearing at few spots. I'm worried if it will hold. Is there anyway to remedy this or should I change to a wooden cabinet. If so I will have to set up a whole new system cos I have no idea how I could move the present tank to a new cabinet. Advice please. Gong Xi!
  9. Roughly how much he charge for 4X2X2 and 4X2.5X2.5? Thanks
  10. I am thinking of DIYing a 2 X 150W Iwasaki 20K unit for my 4 footer. I am toying with the idea of using my present ocean free 4 feet hood for 2 FL tube and convert it to house the 2 MH unit. Is it feasible? I went to EYE lighting, saw the bulb and like it. Just thinking if housing the MH bulbs in the Ocean Free FL hood would be alright.
  11. I just feel you need a fish there to make it come alive.
  12. It's not strange to find bugs in that place, so he'll do fine.
  13. AT, I used to think it was "Buck" until I asked him and he said it should be "Bug" and I had to believe him since the fat man could be "Tiny"!
  14. Sorry AT, the girl in TT's avatar cannot be your ex-friend. She is 18 this year, in NP and her surname is Yee (if I am not wrong about the photo). Sorry can't tell her name as I know her. Took me a long while to realised I know her since looking a the avatar.
  15. NormanH, IMO, the coral beauty can be a nuisance. It gets eye infection easily and quite a bully. If I need to choose between the two, I'll definitely keep the flame. My tank has only one angel, flame, and I think its the most stunning drawf angel. My Kole manage to survive the attack of my 1 year old yellow and is now happy but lazier in terms of clearly algae.
  16. IMO, don't buy any damsel. Save the trouble of trying to take them out when you get more delicate fish. Damn difficult to catch them.
  17. After a long "net chase", they went back to nature at Sungei Buloh, on my way to LCK farm. If I had my lion fish then, it would have been a different story.
  18. I have a blue devil that's quite nice...only threaten the new fish for half a day. Even my strawberry and blenny survived him. It started with my tank 1.5 years ago...my longest resident together with my maroon clown and CBS. However, I have long discarded domino and yellowtail for criminal offences.
  19. Me, if can see it take it out. If cannot, then won't even know! For my tank, if I don't add new fish, there won't be dead fish. So, If I put in new ones (quite seldom) I give it 2 weeks critical period. BTW, does anyone know about an anthias called "cardbury"? It is pinkish with yellow top fins and tail. I recently got the only 2 from LCK. the old man "bug" says its quite rare.
  20. I used to own a cowfish once and it has the same white spot initially. A freshwater dip will help. This is easy as the fish is easy to catch. My was cured after 1 week of FW dip and grew to about 10 cm before it was too big and I give it away. Now, I think it is in Turkey!
  21. Just my opinion, the fat half-###### man at LCK is called "Tiny"! Is that cute enough? He's got an attitude for people who ask ridiculous questions and for huge discounts, but he is really knowledgeable, and not restrcited to marine. Found him quite fun to talk with. He doesn't just want to sell things, he sees if you need them. Ah Tan in Sealife is nice to chat to and give good prices. Sam is ok...the young boy (Sam's son?) takes every opportunity to sell you unnecessary things. The young, "blond" girl just learning but also quite nice. Both shops' LF are quite healthy. Fairywrasse, since you got automatic discount at Rainbow, maybe you can organise a trip there for us? I already kana kertoh once before. Now very scare of the place.
  22. I have had 4 fire and 4 cleaner shrimps for a long while and they are doing fine. They need rocks to hide, will come out to search fro food when lights are off or when white light is off. Also, they need iodide to molt. Preferably temp should be below 27. Sponge, I'm not so sure. Starfish, they type with five pointed knobs in the center are not reefsafe. Only the blue and orange type called Lankin are reefsafe, but the blue ones can grow very big. Just my 2 cents worth.
  23. Hairy? I recommend Tangs....Best choice is Achilles Tang!
  24. My apologies Cool Water, Forgotten that you are new to SRC (Singapore Reef Club). The pasar Malam I was refering to is the one that Phang has hyperlinked.
