  1. how do i prevent cyano from over-taking the sand bed ? Do not overfeed. Been observing some green, red colours on the sand bad but onli minimal. Shld i be worried ? Try to maintain stock & feed for the next few weeks and see what is the results. Must i add in calcium, strontium and trace elements in an FOWLR ? i have been adding these but is it realli necessary ? You should invest of test kets to see what your tank is deficient in before adding. For anemones to survive with intense lighting, how intense must it be ?? Currently my tank is small (30litres) with a 11 watts Blue and white lighting. Observes your anemone, it is moving around or shrinking? If not should be fine. My diatom bloom problem is over thanks to advise by bros here. But how often shld i feed my clowns? My percula clown keeps fighting with the smaller fire clown. Any way to prevent this ? Try not have unpair clowns in the same tank. Clown are terratorial and will defend its anemones to the death. With my tank capacity, how many fishes and invert shld i maintain ? Presently i have two clowns and two snails. Do you think i can keep another fish or perhaps an anemone if the conditions permit ? Will this disrupt the bio cycle within the tank rite now ? See above answers.
  2. I am currently using the 2ft CR Aquarium with cabinet, the one that is on show. I was there Staurday morningt and was surprise that they are selling so much more expensive than what I paid for!!!! Don't aks me why like that but although I have a far better deal, it still leave a bad taste on my mouth.
  3. Thanks bro. will look into Kalkwasser once I run out of Aragonite Milk.
  4. Dear Cookiemunster I started experiencing rapid growth after dosing Aragonite milk. Was wondering whether have you tried it before cuz might be considering switching to Le Kalk if all figures works out fine (Cheaper). Would appreciate your honest opinion. Dear Woonming, care to comment too?
  5. I went there last Sunday and was looking at the anemone when one of the man approached me. I asked him what is it although I knew what it is and guess what he replied?............ Guy at the LFS: "{Alo Vera}!". I left with a big grin on my face. Like the bro earlier said " We have to take what they say with a pinch of salt". :-) Cheers,
  6. Or you may try this link, http://www.saltaquarium.about.com/cs/livesandsetup/
  7. The basic process is to lay pvc pipes at the bottom of the tank before adding sands. Recomended depth is about 6 to 7 inch. For more details you may check out FAMA magazine, they used to have a regular column called "Sand Mail" dedicated to plenum.
  8. Bro, get Yuma & Florida lah. I only managed to get the Yumas for Par*d#z R##f at a very good price, now they dun have liao if I know I will get the Florida from them as well. I feel that although the place looks ex but sometimes their prices is very competitive. If you see any Florida let me know OK.
  9. Dear bro, Mushroom belongs to the corallimorphs (false coral) order. They will grow into attractive colonies under bright illumination while in depth or low intensity lighting they live in solitarity. Pollyps belongs to the order of Zoanthids unlike corallimorphs, zoanthids occurs in a wide arrays of colours. However they are quitetoxic and aggressive towards other corals. Both Zoanthids & Corallimorphs get majority of the nutrition through lightings although they do benefits from occasional direct feeding or indirect such as leftovers & filter feeding. Anemone besides needing intense lighting, it need to be fed periodically as well. I suggest you take a pix of your coral and have it Id so that you can find out what is it basic husbandry. Cuz even if yours is a mushy you still need to know what species so that you will be able to cater to its needs. For me, I will always make it a point to research before buying and by the time I purchase, I will already have its common names & scientific names plus it basic husbandry at the tip of my tongue. Hope this help.
  10. Hi bro & sis, Another friend of mine has caught the marine virus and had asked me to look out for reefers here willing to part with 4ft tank preferably complete set-up. Let me know your best offer.
  11. It is true cuz they will suffer light shock which causes them to bleached. In fact, coral farmers do recommend coralines to be acclimatize slowly to the new environment by covering them with mesh in order to filter off direct lightings and slowly removing the mesh as time goes by. (read it froma coral propagation book)
  12. Rowaphros is used to absorb Phrosphates. It is available in most marine LFS. It is well recomended by the bros of this forum. I have used it and found that it is better than Seachem PhosGuard. However, due to the price I have been looking for other alternatives. Today, I was at Parad** R##f and I bought 0.5l of BioPhos from Edwin, he told me that it is comparable to Rowa but at a fraction of the price. Thus you might want to check it out. I also saw some beginners books that you may want to consider investing. Cheers,
  13. Hi bro, Just feed enough for the clown to finish, unfinished food is another cause of diatom bloom. Have you employed chemical filtration such as Rowaphros? Cheers,
  14. My apologies. Type too fast and got all mixed up. Sorry.
  15. Hi, if you are planning to have fish only, then you need not worry to much about lighting except that the illumination must be enough for you to see your fishes. However, if you intend to keep corals, then 15w is not sufficient. Atleast get 2 x 39w pl (1 white, 1 blue). Please note that coralines especially purple coralines do not require strong lightings as compared to the green coralines. Please take sometime to read the Pinned thread written by the lao chiao (Old Birds) very informative.
  16. Hi bro & sis, A friend of friend is setting up and require our supports. Need the above for 2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft tank. Please PM me your best price. Thanks,
  17. Diatoms thrive in tank will high phosphos, bedise controlling will snail, you might have to employ chemical filteration such as Rowaphos. As mentioned coralines are slow to grow as such be patience. Cheers,
  18. Hi I experience receeding Coraline Algae just after my cycling period but it has slowly recovered, I agree with what Clownfish has mentioned too. Just remember coraline take longer to grow, so be a little patience and I think they will grow back again.
  19. Dear bro, In Mandarin, if you add a G after N, it will be PengYu which means "friends". Cheers,
  20. Can use it in Calcium Reactor. But i think you better amend your post before you get the "Tick TocK"
  21. Wonderful, you really inspire me to have another tank!
  22. Sorry bro, Wanted to make a quick reply and thus forgotten to take it into consideration. Anyway "Wu Ta Wu Zhuang" means something like "Doing something without understanding / knowledge". For those with better Mandarin you may correct me if I am wrong.
  23. OIC looks like I have to keep my fingers crossed. Cheers,
  24. Hi, What kind of worms do you see in your tank? Do you have a pix? Most reefers now a days will try not retain whatever live attached to your LR unless it is Nasties (Pest that will harm your existing stock). If however, they are living harmoniously with your live stock - I would'nt loose my sleep over it. If fact, I have a unknown crab and several unknown worms and some other nocturnal animals coming out at night after I switch off all lights. I believe this is what nature is all about and the reason of us getting LR instead of dead rocks.
