Wow, the tank scape, sps and Gonio are beautiful! How much did you pay for these corals?Ended give up PBT ... Added new SPS -
because sun cora open and close again.i also dun understand.and one more question black live sand can mix with the normal sea sand.
Sun corals are very specialized feeders and you have to target feed it almost daily with Mysis Shrimps etc. They will open when they feel there's food or at regular feeding times. I suppose there's no real harm mixing both types of sand other than the aesthetics issue. I don't think there is any commercial algae scrubber sold here and most local reefers either DIY or buy from the net.Where to get algae srcubber -
I saw the beautiful red scooter dragonet at Sea Life but didn't buy it for fear that I have problems feeding it. What are you feeding it with and how is it doing? The inhabitants Got this yesterday from Sealife -
Are you a mushroom lover? A word of caution though. The Flame Angel is extraordinarily beautiful but has a reputation to be not so reef safe, especially if you intend to keep corals. Can you let us know the equipment used? I think I see a hang-on back filter, a skimmer and two white pipes (to a sump or chiller)? Do you intend to hide the view of the equipment with some stuff in time to come?

Steve, any updates on your 1 ft by 1 ft tank or have you upgraded to a bigger one now?
-
Any updates on your tank? For pico tanks, we have all been advised to keep the number of fishes to a minimum because we are limited by the small volume of water. Naturally for a tank of the above size, we probably shouldn't keep more than one or two small fishes, although it also depends on the species eg. no tangs. I have a tank of similar dimensions as yours and I have 1 clown, 1 Hector's goby, 1 blue neon goby, 1 red spotted goby and 1 six line wrasse. The key is to choose the smaller fishes that can be found. I don't know if I will be adding more fishes but controlled feeding and frequent water changes help to maintain the quality.

Bro, it's a nice and simple setup now. I love the Pharos LED. I'm sure you would be adding some stuff sometime soon? Where did you get your Esshops nano overflow box? Is it working well? Any bubbles problem?

Any updates on your office and home tanks?Got a better cam, some picture updates. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=190769'>20130205_151154.jpg Mushroom corner http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=190770'>20130205_151358.jpg Zoas corner http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=190771'>20130205_151437.jpg Trying out some SPS -
I had a blue and a yellow neon in the same tank but the blue kept chasing after the yellow and denied it of food. Not long after I took out and put the yellow neon in a separate tank, the latter died. So sad.

Did anyone buy the red scooter dragonet from Sea Life recently? They are beautiful but dragonets are difficult to keep unless one has lots of pods etc in the tank, isn't it? I hope someone can share their experience on keeping this fish.

What sps do you keep? I thought most sps requires higher light output than what LED can provide? Do you have any lighting supplement?I have a 34l and is cooled daytime by fan and temp reaches 28-29c but the room is air conditioned at night down to 25c. I am able to keep sps and lps fairly ok. My lights are LED and give out minimal heat. -
Any latest update on your tank? Hope all's better now?Yeah bro! that's what killed it... any advice on how to prevent it? was beginning to think something was wrong with my tank..? -
Bros, I agree with you on the high evaporation rates and fluctuations of using a fan. For those of you with a small (less than 50 litres) tank setup and running a chiller, what corals eg. lps, sps, do you keep? If there's a power trip, the risk of losing the corals is higher, isn't it?
-
For such a small tank, a chiller is an overkill. I use a high wattage fan and it helps to lower the temperature by about 3 degrees. The flip side is I have to top up a lot of water everyday. For quick cooling, I find using a frozen icebox or water bottle helps.

You changed the water only once a year? What's your secret to maintaining the water quality? Finally I'm changing my 5 yrs old JBJ Nano Tank. Running without skimmer & I only change water once a year :x True Percula Clownfish with me since end 2003. Almost 10 yrs. -
It can't be 20 liters too based on the dimensions, unless the dimensions are wrong.

Ah Beng has flame angels, blue hermit crabs today.

Anyone knows whether any LFS in the west sells the Carib Sea Black sand?
Why don't you just buy online from Fresh N Marine. They deliver to you directly.
-
It's beautiful and I love the numerous hammers, torches etc!
-
Bro, I thought I should point out that you have the wrong gallons in case you add or dose wrong amounts based on this. Based on the dimension you gave, it should be 34 liters or about 9 gallons.L305mm x D355mm x H320mm I am using a Skimz Nano skimmer as well As the name suggested, its a 20 gallon -
Bros, for bigger pumps, the outlets are fairly big. How did you connect them to the smaller inlet for the phosban reactor?
