  1. Lovely butterfly fishes. Always wanted them but can't keep them with corals or rather risky perhaps. Mutually exclusive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  2. Just to share a short iPhone video of the galaxy coral... The extra long feeders that extend only when the lights are dimmed.
  3. Thanks bro. Not sure if it's going to make it but will try.
  4. Yes but there are reasons not using such as running costs, heat generated by an additional motor, size of skimmer relative to tank. Most importantly water changes are key, skimmers in small tanks actually not necessary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  5. Thanks bro. I like your blue mushrooms in your tank. Very chiao. Yes it is air driven. It uses a wooden air stone by Sander (need to replace its original) and an external air pump. There is a version that has a air pump on the unit. I get my air supply from a heavy duty pump that drives my other tanks. The skim mate has been darker ever since and nitrate now is less than 10ppm in between water changes. I also noticed that I need to change the air stone less frequent now for whatever reasons.
  6. Interesting scape. Any updates or addition? Your fishes still ok after just 10 days?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  7. Maybe a photo of your 1st compartment is better than a thousand words. Also how do you filter out any chaeto debris that might go into 2nd compartment? Do you have your lights at the side of the tank?
  8. Looking for Vortech MP 10 wave maker. Also any LFS selling? Please PM. Thanks
  9. Where do you place your tunze water level detector? In the IOS chamber?
  10. Interesting. Free maybe can sit down and compute what's the price litre for litre... between NSW and RO water ignoring the intangibles.
  11. The chances of survival is almost zero but don't give up. Keep the water clean as you don't have filtration. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  12. Nice assortment of zoas and a cute pair of clowns. What's at 10'o clock? A mandarin? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - http://tapatalk.com/m?id=1'>now Free
  13. You may try... I run it on mine. See "My Tank Thread".
  14. Just to share... I run Polyplab Bio Sphere inside the IQ Skimmer... Here's a short video...
  15. No QT? Sorry then you can say bye bye to the 20%. No need to throw rocks. Sell your good acros.
  16. Thanks bro. Thanks bro. PM you. The purpose of the HOF is three folds: 1. An extension of the filtration system. 2. To create a better flow and surface agitation. 3. Runs the tank a lot cooler by 0.5-1degC.
  17. I would not direct the air con outlet on the tank or water surface. Can't under estimate it's cooling effects. Have seen one cooling a 4ft SPS tank without a chiller. Already excited to see your new nano tank. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  18. Thanks bro. PM you. Thanks bro.
  19. Good choice of dimensions. Shallow and wide, very workable tank. Easy access, allows generous placements. A black background brings out the good contrast as well.
  20. Thanks bro. The lighting is from Micmol. Here are some links: http://reefbuilders.com/2013/09/18/micmol-led-light-neat-reflectors-modern-styling-design-cues/ http://micmol.com/aquamini.html Love it for 3 reasons: 1. It has a small but robust holder that will fit most pico tanks even in-between IOS chambers. 2. It has 3 channel controls namely Blue, Warm White and Special LEDs instead of the usual 2. 3. Use of larger lenses to better diffuse the lights. Here is another view:
  21. Continued sharing of my humble pico journey.... Added a fan and thermometer, most of the time not used. Day temperature hovering around 27-28degC. With the fan and air-con, it can bring down the temperature to 25-27degC if required. Added an earthing probe to eliminate some stray currents in the tank. Also added more SPS frags from some nice fellow reefers. Here's a daylight shot... Thanks for viewing.
  22. Sorry for your loss. Old ones don't go, New ones can't come. Take it easy bro. Just out of curiosity, when you say 80% of your SPS... does it include all types or just Acros?
