  1. Can try looking out for a par 38 LED lamp. Either blue + white or a full spectrum bulb
  2. Haven't spawned yet* meaning haven't spawned since I started attempting to enrich the food a few days ago
  3. I've been feeding them mysis and pellets soaked in selcon. Not sure if that's enough though. They haven't spawned yet so I'm still waiting.
  4. I use red/blue Par38 leds to grow chaeto and a 6500k cfl to grow algae on an ATS. At first the ats only grew lots of cyano. Within a week the cyano in the DT disappeared. Its now growing a small amount of green algae though. But anyway, the problem is usually due to issues with water quality and arguably these methods do not tackle the problem at its root.
  5. Anyone knows the price of the wartskin frogfish can kindly PM me? Thanks.

    PHOS

How do you know that its phosphates and not nitrates? Cyano thrives on phosphates and can fix elemental nitrogen dissolved. Most other types of algae (less cyano which is really a bacteria), need both phosphates and nitrates to grow. So if you're saying that cyano is gone but other types of algae are thriving... I don't what led to the conclusion that it is due to phosphates. Anyway if youre convinced that its phosphates, a few common reasons could be because of phosphates leaching from the rocks or simply just over feeding.
  7. I think the issue with using LEDs for chaeto is the fact that chaeto thrives on blue and red light. Single LED chips only give out a very narrow band in the spectrum. It must be noted that the colour temperature (6500k, 5500k) etc is really just a measurement based on perception of the colour of the light rather than the actual bands in the spectrum. Thus the actual amount of light usable by chaeto given out by a 6500k LED may not constitute the same amount which is given out by a CFL bulb (which has a much broader spectrum). I've had great chaeto growth with a blue and red led bulb but almost nothing with a plain 6500k LED bulb. The situation is probably different in a huge tank. Most LED fixtures utilise a mixture of different LED bulbs so a good fixture should theoretically be able to provide a "full spectrum" or at least light that is usable by the livestock.
  8. Nope still not hatching :/ gonna try using a bbs hatching cone next
  9. Yes only zoas. Dip your zoas. Even a quick freshwater dip is better than none at all, assuming you don't have currently have coral RX or smth like that at hand.
  10. Still looking for a pair (:
  11. Hi all, I'm looking to purchase a pair of mated clownfish (either percula or ocellaris) Not looking for the normal ocellaris though. My budget isn't too high so I'm looking around for a pair around the range/price of standard black ocellaris pairs, not those high-end designer clowns unless of course, you are kindly willing to let them go at a lower than market price. I'm intending to breed them btw. I've got lots of rotifers being cultured already and I would like to give this breeding attempt a try. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind if you're just selling a day or two old eggs either. Thank you for your time. Kindly drop me a PM if you've stuff to offer (: thanks
  12. The green brittle star gets quite aggressive and may not be reef safe
  13. Sorry that i was being so vague. I was referring to this plate coral. haha but the other LPS looks awesome too!
  14. Brittlestars most LFS have them frequently. Just make sure that you don't get the green brittlestars.
  15. Too nice already haha didn't manage to see the blondies last time :/
  16. For a DSB to work effectively, apart from the depth of sand, it has to have quite a large surface area too. I prefer to run algae scrubbers/chaeto. Less risk and more space efficient IMO.
  17. Wow that plate coral looks amazing. Where did you get it?
  18. Depends on the type of pipefish. Some types take frozen mysis easily so that should help with the survival rate.
  19. Thanks (: I'll try reducing the current and enriching before feeding. Thanks!
  20. Hmm but both the male and female fish are supposed to release eggs and sperm at the same time for the eggs to be fertilised. Pellets and pods
  21. But I did leave the eggs in the main tank a number of times though. Left them floating in a filter sock in the DT.
