  1. the last i asked Darwin, their CL450 going for S$499.....so are they cheaper or Octopus Bay cheaper???? but their chiller is the old model one, so might can be quite noisy.....

Their MH cost $380++....Octopus bay's MH is a better deal...

but i think the rest of the stuff, darwin is much cheaper then anywhere else....also for some items, try their competition next door...reasons is the Dawin only offer special price if you are member while their competitor doesn't.... :D

  2. I use PL, IMHO, PL is brighter but produce more heat. I find a single 36W PLL light pentrate deeper into the water then a 2x20 W T5....Also you are not forgetting that a T5 is slight longer that a 55w PL....which means that T5 would not be brighter then a PL if you are using it for a 2 footer.....

one interesting thing...dunno if it me or not, but i find my 36w PLL brighter then the 55w t4-PL...but then given that a 36w PLL tube cost $25 while a 55w t4 PL cost S$13 - i suspect that the quality of the tube means a lot!

  3. Hi guys,

I have 2 24w PLL tubes for sales, they are blue in color. Asking for S$15 each, S$25 if take both...brand is coral star

Also have to magnatic ballasts for sales at S$4 each.

all items are brand new, reason for selling is bacause they were taken out of a new light set to make way for other modifications..... :P

  4. I did manage to color up a brown croea and it started having a bit tint of blue, using just 2x36 PL (1 blue 1 white)...

I think if you use PL, it has to be near the water surface and a good reflector arranged in a proper angle (such that the light is shining directly at the clam), you will also have to place the clam quite high up on your rock works...

but for best results, MH still rocks!

  5. Arrrgghhh....my pump to the chiller today broke down.....by the time i reach home today, discover my temp to be at 35c....my SPS is begining to peel off at the bottom!!! but the skeleton looks green instead of white but i guess its WBD.....

Would cutting of the white part helps since i've brought the temp back to 25c and there are still a fair bit of skin left....?????

  6. Read about the product called NitrateMinus by TetraAqua (picture shown below). Any idea where this product is available and it's price?

used it before, but don't think is effective, although some bro claims it to be good. you can get if from L35 Pasis Ris....i think its under S$10

  7. I have the following items for sale....

Seachem - Reef Trace (used 3 cup full) - S$9

Marine Snow (not opened yet) - S$20

Clip on fan (the consumer type - used by taxi drivers in the old days) - S$25

    Take all at S$50

Interest please PM....priorty will be given to those who wants it all.... :D

  8. I dunno...and I lost 3 clams last week too!

maybe there are many more snails inside.???

The clams usually 'drop-off'/detached from the rock that they are attaching, while leaving behind the rock a portion of their flesh. after that the clam will be gone in 24 hrs.

I had a clam that detached from the rock and left a portion of their flesh on the rock....found a snail attacking it.

I did a freshwater dip on the clam for 20 minutes and it seems to recover...it has been 2 week ++ and the clam seems to be doing fine, attaching itself to another piece of rock....

  9. if anyone selling their Bt ,pls msg me .i can afford price range from 12 to 18 dollars. but the Bt must be in your tank for months and is matured to eat well . and ich hardy . size 1.5 to 2.5 inches . dont want so big like 3.5 to 5 inches .

    anyone? ;)

    how big is your tank????

dun mind selling mine to you, but it must be at more then a 2 ft tank, don't want 'Dory' to suffer.... :D

  10. If your room temp is 34 deg cel, never hope to reach anything below 28deg cel even you have many strong fan. I ever had 3 12V 80mm DC fan DIYed for my 2.5'x1.5'x1.5' tank.... water evaporation is at 3 litre a day or 2.5%. After using it for some time, i switch off 2 off the fan and the temp still remain the same.....

Yeap...totally agree....used to have 2 AC fan and 6 DC fan blowing at my 2 footer...

my place very hot....alway 30c plus i have about 150w of lights....fans turn full blast (tank sounds like a jet engine) I was only able to get it down to 28c...Switch off the AC Fan, and step down the DC fan to 6v and temp still 28c.....of course turn off all fan temp climbs up to more then 30c....

i think there is a limit on how much water can be evapourated!
