  1. hi bro - not so much of maintenance as yet - but am sticking to a strict regime for a start.. water salinity is now maintained at 1.020 . every 3 days - I top up aged water . intend to do 25% water change every month.

feeding is pellets and done twice a day - so quite controlled.

fishes were bought from a decomming hobbyist who had taken care of fish well.

Oh, now then i remember you bought from a bro thats selling all his fishes with his tank set right? Hahah.

Have fun in marine. Hope all your fishes will be healthy as always.

If you wanna reduce your bioload, do put me as your waiting list uh hahah!

  2. Haha sometimes it's a luck game. But it also explains why over the years live rock have dropped in popularity.

Still remember when I started out many years ago, live sand (back then dun even have pre-packed versions. The LFS will scoop live sand from a pail and sell it in plastic bags) and live rocks were the way to go.

Now that I'm rejoining the hobby again, my new tank will not have any rocks at all. Hopefully my biohome and mini refugium can handle the load.

A little off topic but bro no rocks? Not even dead/dry rocks? Why? Cause i also wanted to try 'rock-less'

  3. Hi guys, want to trade away my blue hippo tang.

Size is roughly 10cm. Healthly and feeding on pellet, small pieces of market prawn, squid.

Want to trade for other fishes or marine keeping related stuffs.

Sms or whatsapp 9237 4294 if you are interested and let me know what you want to trade for.

  4. Lol never thought of that but thats a great idea. Anyway ill give them a call later. the only bad thing is its quite far from my place. Anyway if i buy dead rocks do i still need to clean/rinse it before placing to tank for curing. Also do i really need to wait for a month for it to populate bacteria? is there a booster that i can use to at least shorten that time frame by half?
A rinse will do. Looks for those dead rocks that are bleach white because it means it have sun dry for quite sometime. So nothing will be leave on the rocks. You can dose some bacteria additive to speed up. I do have lots of dead rocks with me. Drop me a pm if you would like to know more about it.
  5. Hi, welcome back to reefing. Am not an expert here. Just sharing some advice. 1) Go for the biggest tank size that you willing to pay and have space for it. So you will not have to upgrade in the future. (saves the troubles) 2) Go for sump tank setup, because you can hide all your equipments in sump and making more spaces for your display tank. Sump tank is more easier to have maintenance. 3) Skimmer, one of the most important equipment in saltwater keeping. Better to invest in a good skimmer. Hope the pros/experts will chip in more information.
