  5. hmm... wonder if anyone wans free cyno algae? LELONG LELONG CYNO TO GIVE........HELP TO ABSORB NUTRIENTS
  6. hi there, I used to be running a cannister filter until my nitrate shoots thru the roof and thus decided to convert to a sump. It had been 2 weeks since i converted to a sump. I used to have cyno in my main tank b4 the sump. My config is Main tank : 3x1.5x1.5 ft with 2x150w MH 6hr lighting sump: 3x1.5x1 ft with 2x39w PL 24/7 bioload - 2 damsels, 4 small firefish, 1 yellow wrasse, 1 hawkfish, 3 shrimps, 1 algae benny I had dump a pack of rowas in my sump as well as some carbon bag. DSB of 6" with some aglae to reduce nitrate. However, cyno started growing in my sump. May i ask if this is normal? what else can i do to remove the cyno? thanks
  7. Eel are known to be relatively "bullet proof"... it can survive murky waters - just look at the number of eels caught along bedok jetty is a good gauge. When u look at then, sometimes they have gaping mouth like struggling to breath. This is pretty normal. Just make sure there are no visible injuries on the body, eyes. It should do well in your tank. Ensure you got a deep enuff sand bed as it will burrow and burrow....if not can add PVC pipes into the sand... it will eat almost everything, just that it is severly myopic. need to bring the food right up to their mouth b4 they can sense it. Although they got a wonderful sense of smell so they rely on tat to hunt. I have got a snowflake eel...intended to sell it away as it is getting too big for my tank....so i captured it and put it into my sump. But at night, it escaped and died on my floor . So its reputation as a escape artist is not to be ignored. However, i have no problem with that when it is in my main tank (3x1.5x1.5) hope this help. cheers
  8. UPZ..... the snowflake eel is no longer available. I captured it and transfered it to my sump but at night it slid out and die on the floor.......... 8.....(
  9. As far as i know, puffer is not known to be aggressive, just not very reef safe as it will nibble at corals/crusta/ for food as well as to wear down their ever growing teeth. I dun think it will nibble at anything else, it co-exist with me clowns and 6-line wrasse very well. hope this helps
  10. All pics are actual specimens
  11. Hi all, Got a few live stocks for sale Snowflake Eel approx 25cm - $10 - very nice in a FOWLR tank or Predator tank. Almost bullet proof anything. rated the most reef safe eel by reefkeeping online http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-12/fm/index.htm Whitetail Trigger - approx 5 cm - $8 - Quite rare, seldom seen in LFS. Very healhty, eat almost anything - Some reports actually indicate that these triggers are reared sucessfully in a reef tank but take it with a pinch of salt. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/fishes/triggers/sufflamen/ Blue spot Puffer - Approx 4cm - $6 - Nice puffer with blue streak running down the body. Very healthy. Now ready for collection at bedok. Caught already, now already swimming in my sump. Lookin for new owners to take good care of them. I am converting to a reef tank.

  18. Hi all, I have a 3 footer running on a redsea prizm skimmer and cannister filter. However, i am planning to set up a sump and i have a spare weipro 2011 rated for 2 ft. Can i run both the weipro and the prizm skimmer together and achieve the effect of a better skimmer like Aqua C??? thanks
  19. come to think abt it. They are so good at hiding in the sandbed that it refused to come out then i am doing my major rescape of my tank and i sort of stir up the entire sandbed! Makes me think that i am not getting my value for money given that i can only see it during the morning b4 i go work...
  20. that is a common behaviour for yellow wrasse. I can only see mine only in the morning and early afternoon. Beside that, it is off to his cosy sandbed......
  21. Hi, I also got a strange happening to report. I just gor a scroll coral from Fuel and I had just done a major rescape to place it mid level. My algae benny now luv to hide inside the scroll and worst still, it is treating it as a toilet bowl!! . I meant it really shits inside and shit loads of them! Wonder if there is anyway to toilet-train this bugger!... cheers
  22. hmm.. for me, My LS includes 1 X snowflake moray 1 x whitetail Trigger 1 x blue spot puffer 1 x boxer shrimp (amazing survivor in a predator tank) 1 x yellow wrasse 1 x anemone misc: tube worms, and some softies I dun think my tank is overstocked. But i admit i do go overboard when it is feeding time... my NO3 shoot up to 100PPM leading to the death of my hammer, fungia (i think) so i will be adding a sump to my tank. My plans so far will be to finish up the piping + overflow + return pump. Will concurrently run the cannister and sump for 1-2 weeks. In between will slowly remove the bioball and rings inside the cannister. until my cannister consist of just the foam. how abt that? cheers
  23. Hi all, I have a 3ft tank running on a cannister filter...something which i regret very much... as now my nitrate is through the roof and corals are dying.... . So decided to bite the bullet and convert to a sump. So i will be obtaining a overflow box (as me tank is not drilled) and a return pump. I got me sump for free at Irwana (Many thanks again!). My qns is will i need to cycle the tank all over again as i already got LS inside. Or i just do up the sump (DSB and stuffs) and on the pump? Do i need to leave my filter on concurrently? thanks
