  3. July 2017 update: Here is another short update on my Reefer XL425. It has been 3 month since I started Red Sea's Coral Color ABCD dosing, pretty impressed with the result! Take a look at my coral below! Added Red Sea carbon in the system, 100g in the reactor and replace once a month, water goes much more clear I can notice. Fixed up my light bracket! Upgraded my main dosing system. More tank pictures: Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. 19 April 2017 update I've decided to start dosing trace element! In the past few years I've tried different type of trace element dosing with both good and bad result, good result was I did see some changes on the color of my corals, but however most of them are very hard to control the amount to dose in to your aquarium, and sometimes with over dosing you will have side effects like cyano breakout or even damaging your sps. So I've been reading about Red Sea coral color system, the whole idea about this system is that you dose 31 different trace elements base on calcium uptake of your system, Red Sea research shows the ratio of element found in coral skeleton are very similar for all corals, therefore when your system is taking 10ppm of calcium to construct coral skeleton in your reef, it should also consume 1ppm of other trace elements to build coral skeleton, it's a ratio. Of course you can also dose according to your test on iodine, potassium, iron, but I'm not going to do it in this case. So, my dosing for calcium is 14ml/day, according to above calculation I should be dosing 1.4ml of each coral colors A/B/C/D, but I'm going to start with 1ml each pre day and see how it goes. Below are few pictures I took today, let's see if this will make a difference in a few weeks or months. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  10. Been using cheap Chinese refractometer for a while, salinity always between 33-35ppt, which is what I'm aiming at. Recently did some research about salinity and found out that the cheap refractometer was designed for other industries e.g. wine industry, so they don't give the correct measurement when using on salt water salinity. Today I got my Red Sea refractometer, and the result is I'm 5ppt down from what I was aiming at, my salinity is actually on 30ppt only. So I need to raise it up with a few water changes. 13. Hi he, so far the underwater camera is doing its job, only down side is these are not wide angle so it doesn't cover the whole tang no matter how I place it in the tank. I'm sure I need to clean the lens at some points lol. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  17. 5 weeks of coralline algae growth!! Tank was set up on the 25th December 2016 and 5 weeks later this is what I get on the bottom of the tank and the overflow glass. I was dosing Red Sea ABC+ powder and Red Sea foundation b daily for the first 5 weeks, and the result was incredible! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  18. At the moment I have some lps on the bottom. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  19. Thx Sandy. I had sand in my last setup and it was so difficult to clean, so I decided to remove the sand for this setup, so far I'm happy with no sand at the bottom lol. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  20. Another update time lol! Received my new RODI unit! All fish are getting better now, all eating fine and getting fat. I'm currently dosing Red Sea foundation abc+ power with kh buffer solution, but I think I have large KH swing during the day, due to the quantity of supplements I dose manually. So I'm planning to use my dosing pump on all 3 major elements and stop dosing the ABC+ powder. Will be a bit painful now to work out the daily consumption, but I think it's a must now, if I wanna keep my sps alive lol. So went out and bought the Red Sea Foundation test kit, hopefully in the next two weeks I will work out my dosing rate. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  21. Sad news: I lost 5 fishes due to the stresses from the move, including my favorite emperor angel and my unicorn tang. Good news is the rest of the fish are getting better, all eating well and enjoying their new home. Corals are doing good since I swap to the red Sea coral pro salt. ( used to use cheaper salt ) Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  22. January 2017 update Yeah skimmer upgrade! Was hunting for a decent skimmer for months, finally decided to get the Reef octopus regal 150sss skimmer, rated for 800L, due to the size of the sump space I believe this is the best option I have. Also upgraded a sump light for the refugium. This is what I get for the first 3 days lol. Very decent skimmer highly recommended. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
