actually this thread is not about cycling, its actually what type of method of water will be best for starting a new tank
-
market prawn is like the traditional way of kickstarting the cycle, i am dosing bac + market prawn + biopellets, but not much LR in my tank so later going to get a pail of bacteria king for bacteria to live in

-
i managed to survive tru 48 hrs of dripping ro-di, tank is finally running but ALAS i got no market prawn at home lol
-
i prefer outsump models because it doesnt pass heat into the tank, anyway it was only a small hiccup that was solves in 5 mins
-
ok lucky i was checking on the tank every now n then, else disaster 1 would have happened,
the hose to skimmer venturi was loose n water was seeping out from it, freaked out n thought what happen, started taking towels n dry the area n hunt for the source, luckily was a small thing
-

has been an extremely buzy day since 8am in the morning, onl;y settled down now so time for pics
Arrival of tank at 1030am
tight fit into the lift
Heading to its position where it will be sitting there for a longggg time
Cutting a hole for my chiller coil and electrical wiring
awaiting its turn to sit on top of its partner
into the hole
canopyless
another view
back overflow with 2 return outlet
platform to sit my 1st gen reef octopus bubble blaster external skimmer and sump 1st compartment
the 2nd part of the sump, looks like 2nd compartment is gonna be a refugium
pipings for changing water , i can now drain out 1st compartment and 2nd compartment's water while leaving main tank circulating with wavemakers
view of tank from main door ( uncompleted so got a gap on top
thats all for today, more of this photojournal tomorrow, awaiting minor works to the cabinet and the silicon for the pipings to cure for 24 hours before i start adding water
-
wah lau eh brooooooo , y not 1 month earlier lol
-
lol bro james such a old tank thread u dig out
-
It should b safe coz the 1 pipe is pretty thick n i need the height for detritus to settle in the 1st compartment , trying not to use any filter at all if possible, n its not a great concept lar just being stingy n save the wattage on q feeding pump to the skimmer
-
the skimmer is external not in the top glass tank, that is just a 1st compartment for detritus from the main tank to settle so i can siphon it away easily if water flow there is too strong then i'll add a filter sock
skimmer is fed by gravity
In-tank refugium
