  1. I was into vodka dosing periodic PROFIBIO dosing before. My tank was then heavy stocked SPS sys, with 10+ fishes and mostly angels in my 100 gallon tank. The dosing works as it brought down my NO3 to <0.5. The best part , I do not have to bother abt PO4 even with heavy feeding. And, able to colour up my SPS - some were totally brown-out colonies. However, after dosing for a couple of months, I feel that the tank became very sterile and coraline started to recede, followed by patches of slime green algae. It seems that the tank have reached its peak with the dosing. That's where I torn down the sys and start from ground zero again.

That was my experience but all sys are different, hence some may have better experience.

  2. I have too many PM to reply. Here's more info for those who are keen. The fish is kept in my reef setup of SPS & LPS. The reason why I'm selling it is because she's an old resident in my tank and is harassing my Joc.

I will give priority to those who can collect tonight after 9pm. Price stands firm at $130.00.

Collection is at CCK, near Yew Tee mrt. sms @96758900.

  4. I believe filter wool ( Mechnical filteration ) is not really necessary, unless you have descpline to clean / replace it regularly.. A good skimmer should be able to skim out all the waste, and if you go diving in the water you will see those floating particles around you as well in the natural environment ..

A mechanical filter, wool, is still important for easy maintanance. It's either changing the wool or siphoning debris in the sump regularly. Also don't expect the skimmer to remove the debris. It doesn't work that way.

  6. Hi Bro Garald31

Its a challenge to keep Angels in Reef tanks. Nice GoldFlake and Regal angel.

yes, it quite a hit and miss with angels in reef. But I always find there irresistable. I tried many types of angels and find most of them can be reef-safe. this is especially so if they are already feelin on pellets and your tank is decked with seasoned live rocks. You have to feed them more 'heavily' to curb their hunger from tasting your corals. However the following are exception, bicolour, elibi, poma, queen, flagfin. No matter how much you feed them, They will sample the coral in no time. I had an elibi that finish half a true frog spawn.

  8. to me BB is the way to go. I used to go for sand bottom but realised that after running a year or 2 later, maintaining it is a problem, esp when you overstock. which most of us do.And not to mentioned dead fished along the way. Now my routine is just 5% water change weekly and siphoning debris from the sandbed with eheim gravel cleaner
