  1. wow bro papaya your setup is quite something...your house something to wow about too..

With guidance from many experienced reefers you are in good hands.

However some information posted have to be taken with a pitch of salt.

Seniority is not equals to all mighty truth, some didn't even try out the local made before commenting.

I thought i saw quite a number of posts about some senior reefer having problem with the BK skimmers and pump somewhere. Maybe i'm wrong. :whistle

As for Deltecs there is something funny about this brand, since it is made in German how come there is not much / nothing mentioned in German sites?

Just thinking out loud. Hope you enjoy this hobby and please let us know on the in house brand. Lets see if they are really that 'Bad' as commented.

    Regards

  2. - Understand from the bro who let go the CR to me, the media in the CR is ARM. Do I ever need to change the calcium media or just need to top up?

    - I measure the CR chamber PH by collecting the water drip from the CR outlet pipe/tubing.

    - There're lot of bubble trap in the CR chamber. This cause the water stop circulating after running for few days even the pump still on. I've to switch off the pump and on again to restart the water circulation. This happen twice within a week since I start the CR. Therefore, I'm hesistate to increase the bubble count further, infact I slow it down this morning.

    - I'm changing the water and adding limewater to increase the calcium level.

    - The difference between the tank water and CR calcium level is about 60 to 80 when I measure it yestersday. Is this gap good enough?

Hi, have you checked with the distributor? I think they can give you better information on the CR.

  3. The answer isn’t encouraging; think he is suggesting you purchase a new magnet to replace.

So much for the rusty pumps <_< , think i ll jus store them and get the good old Tunze since they also have the batt input function for power failure.

Btw someone in the other forum suggests that a "little rust" isn't doing much harm to a reef tank and will continue using those rusting pumps until there is report on a crash, think that comment is out of proportion and it contains a hint of bias.

It also suggests knowledge of the problem before my post but swept it under the carpet. Those are really some “Frank comments†from a Tank of the Month winner.

  4. Yeah. Friendships and respects do not mean we like to be touched or enjoy listening to dirty jokes. Some men when awarded with little success thinks that they are inVINcible and can do anything they wanted. :( Thus I urge bros and sis here to support the survey and if possible post your comments here so that we can send the right message to the right people. Thanks to those who have offered their supports.

    Total Agreed, well said!

I wonder who the inVINCible Man....HO HO HO HO .......:lol::lol:

  5. yeah, partition. But what if the end sides? Partitions leaks, nobody cares la. Only the sides leaks, then we all headache. furthermore partitions are not tight to glass. If tight, just nice no allowance, you will crack the glass. If you can easily cut that sides, I will bring over my 2 ft tank to you and see how you cut that, ok? Im now trying to cut off that to diy tank size.

lastly, all the tank makers worker also tell me that impossible to cut out the tank side glass except you break some of it first.

    Hi there,

You seems to be very knowledgable and also very well connected. Can i request for some tank maker contact cos i ll be customising one for my friend, hope that you ll oblige to my request  I m asking bcos you mentioend knowing alot of tank maker, it is like you are in this trade.:lol:

Do you know of other LFS selling the ORCA glue, AM doesn't have stock now.

    Thanks in advance :P

  6. A pic of David Saxby...owner of Deltec. He is the English gentleman with the white beard.

He is here showing off a video of his stunning 1200G L shaped mixed coral tank. The tank has 400 fishes and among other jewels has a Gem Tang !

A real nice guy and it is obvious that being in the marine aquarium equipment business has not depleted his passion for the hobby as he is so proud of his tank.

I even saw him at Irwarna trying to buy lifestock for his aquarium in London!

    Eh...if i'm not mistaken he is from D & D not Deltec..... :D

For the serial no 1, i do suspect he have another nick besides the two mentioned above.

And this serial no.1 had posted threathening post on sueing before, but he requested some moderator to remove it because the thread he posted backfired.

So reefers becareful of wat you post or else this serial no.1 can sue you.

    WILL HE?

  8. Assumptions and possible overlooks:

1.NitrateLock itself has very complicated instructions, must intiate it with hardwater, can rejuvenate with table salt. Maybe i didn't start it right or i'm not using it correctly

    Eh. i'm jus curious.

If it can be rejuvinated with table salt (i presumed mixed with water). Isn't the water in our tanks salt water???

Ain't you rejuvenating it all this while??

  9. i realise i have difficulty taking out the collection cup for maintenance purpose.

For Deltec, its simple as you only need to twist the collection cup a little.

For beckett, there's all the thumb screws. Some might like it, others might think its slightly troublesome.

As for the ATI BM 250, its super difficult to take out the collection cup from the skimmer body. Its quite bad considering i wash the collection cup twice a week.

Btw i figured out that difference food fed to the fishes does affect the performance of the skimmer.

    Here are the scenarios:

    Brine/mysis shrimps: normal skimming

Cyclopreeze: skimmer doesnt produce much bubbles

Squid mixed with prawn meat: skimmer overflows

    Hi,

i've been following the thread since the begining and i find that your review is quite good till now. However i find that you are contradicting yourself with this post.

    Earlier you posted

    Pros

    1) The Collection cup is huge!!! Its seriously big.

    2) Easy removal of the eheim pump and collection cup, therefore maintenance would not be a chore.

    3) The white acrylic, makes it look like a bubble king.  (ecstatic purpose)

    4) SUPER DUPER silent. Zero noise coming from the skimmer.

    5) Air Flow Meter

But now you are slamming the skimmer design!

I've personally saw and touched the skimmer at AM, i must say removing the collection cup is a breeze when compared to the skimmers you mentioned.
