  1. Hi guys,

i intent to restart to keep corals with my existing fishes. now my 5ft X18"(W) X24" tanks left with 3 tangs,2 clown and some small fishes after two clashes cause of fuse blown from my chiller which killed all of my corals.

is it worth to spend $300 to $400 include installation to replace my 2 150W MH light and 2 T8 blue light or change to a new light . 1 of my MH light is not working now and i dont know if only bulb blown or ballast problem.

What do you guys recommend? i can only using stand for the light as no space for hanging. Can get a decent one with budget not more than $800?

  3. i agree with david. u should t-off rather than reduce the flow which can damage the pump

    thanks for the fast reply

the tank already be setup for 2 years+and i not good at doing piping.i cant ask the shop that setup for me to help cause they already closed down.

i change to the lower power quietone 4000 1017gph max head 10.2ft but the flow is too weak. any recommend ?dont want waste money buying pump to try out.

my existing pump rating is 980gph max head 13ft

any pump to recommend? the lenght from pump to main tank is ard 7.5ft pass by four L elbow.

  4. hi there

i'm using Quietone High head 4000 pump for my 5' x 2'(H) x 18" (w) return. but i find it too strong for the flow ,especially at the end of the tank, can hardy place any coral there.

can i place a ball valve to control the flow?

will it damage my pump or easier to cause leakage?

    alan :thanks:
