Both fishes are sentimental to me, and I really hope the new owner would take care of it well. Closing down my tank as I'll be activated anytime to Taiwan as part of my overseas posting (SAF) for 1 yr. What's more, after today's news about the 2 serious casualtities and being the reserve candidate, I've decided to shut down the tank before its too late for me to do so. Enough of the story, just want to clear off my LS but still keeping the tank. 1. About 20-30 kg of LR with coraline algae ($5/kg, 5x free yellow tail damsels + 2 blue damsels) 2. 1x clarkii clown fish + bicolour dottyback - both $5. Tip for weipro skimmer users: the air intake can be modified to reduce noise by placing an airstone.

I may have the answer why your overflow pipe is not working at full efficiency. I also experienced this problem before. The reason is because the U-shaped part of the pipe is not fully primed with water. Using your mouth to suck at it alone is not enough to prime the U-tube. What I did was to get an end cap, cap one end of the pipe, fill the pipe with water, and then tilt the overflow pipe left, right, up and down to get all the air bubbles in the U-shaped part to escape. Once the pipe is fully primed, it will work like a charm. The other reason I can think of is that the distance of one end of the U-shaped part (the end that is placed in the tank) and the other end (outside the tank, the T-joint that part) is not high enough to get a good gravitational pull, thats why the flow is slow, even though the U-shaped part is fully primed. Hope you understand what I'm talking about.

letting fishes go into the sea may kill them as singapore waters are polluted and not ideal for captive fishes if they do not adapt to the change well.

Its a place definitely not worth the time and journey.
