  1. Albino????!?! I tot that oni happens to humans??hmm.m...seems that i am not the only one with this problem...anyway to improve their conditions??
  2. Brothers out there...need some advice from all out there...recently just got a purple tang from my relative..however, there is something very perculiar abt the tang....when it is at peace with the enviroment, it turns white in colour....however when it is fighting for food, its colours came back....any brothers can advice me on what is happening to the purple tang?? thanks..
  3. Bros...i've gotta big problem with my skimmer... it used to be able to skim well and without any problem...however, since i have returned from a short overseas trip recently, the water level dropped to the minimum required and there is a cranking sound coming out from the skimmer. ever since, after i have topped up the water level, it began to blow water with tiny bubbles into my tank and it looks very messy...is it that my skimmer is already gone?? due to the evaporation of water and have overheated?? Or any kind bros out there can advice on whats the problem??By the way, i am using JEBO Skimmer...pls advice
  4. Bros...need your help on the ID of a green worm that is wriggling out from my turtle weeds..apologies for no photo as my camera is spoilt and unable to upload them..however, then i use a stick to 'poke' it, the worm will curl and spread itself and looks as if it is a piece of leave... one characteristic is that it is very stickly and slimy.....and very green,,like a caterpillar... any bros out there can help advice on what is this and is it suppose to be good or bad for my tank...
  5. Bro, previously my Blue Tang also had whitespots..to be precise..the entire body is filled with white spots...u can see it very clearly..its very obvious... anyway..what i did..i left the lights fo the tank on for a week...increased the water temperature to 31C and i also added in a Wrassel (Doctor fish) into the tank..within a week, the blue tang is totally free of spots.. my 2cents worth..
  6. Bro, for nitrate to be broken down into Nitrogen gas, i understand that there is a need for anerobic bacteria...however, i would like to know, if these bacterias are already in the tank (i.e. they will flourish automatically once a zero 02 condition is available...or i will have to specially culture them in a zero O2 enviromnent...???
  7. bros...just learnt that there is this coil denitrator that seems to be effective in removing nitrates from my tank..anyone heard about this before?? Anyway, will also be trying out this method and see if it is really able to bring down the nitrate level (that is if the level is confirmed with another test kit)...
  8. Bro, will do as adviced and see if the new test kit still gives the same result...
  9. Yo bros....Many thanks for your advice...some answers to your suggestions 1. i am using Tetra testing kit (it says on the box, always accurate..) 2. i have just done a water change last week (abt 10%) but there is still no drop in my nitrate level. 3. Details of my tank are as follows: Dimensions: 4ft(L) x 2ft(W) x 3ft(H) LS: 1 x Blue Tang 1 x Purple Tang 1 x Bluedevil Damselfish 3 x Clownfish (not sure of its exact breed though) 1 x Seaapple 1 x Starfish 1 x Turbo snail 2 x peppermint shrimps 1 x cleaner shrimp Lots of liverocks..... i have an overflow system with bioballs but no refugim. Could that be a cause as i have always heard that bioballs are sort of a nitrate factory... by the way, which is a better option??Growing more plants in the overflow system to reduce nitrate??or start to have clams in the main tank??
  10. Hi....i have just done a test on my water level and the results have shown an alarming truth on my nitrate level....it is in the level of 100ppm region....however, there is no more space in my system to include a refugim or a sump....and also because i have a purple tang and a blue tang in the tank, growing plants will not help as they will only become food for the tangs....currently i am trying to use active carbon filter to see if it helps in reducing the nitrate level... any bros out there able to advice me on what can be done to reduce the nitrate level to a much more acceptable level?? Pls advice
  11. Hi bros..many thanks for all your advice. Will try out all that have been advised and hopefully, my coralines will flourish quickly..
  12. I've tried to dose them with 'trace elements' but maybe it need more time...but i think i am going to keep calcium and hardness to what you have advised. I understand that i can control calcium by adding calcium salt...but what abt water hardness..how do i control it??
  13. Hi all bros out there...just got a question, my live rocks used to be purple in colour but recently i noticed that the purple colours are getting paler and paler...and some colours on the rock are gone...making the tank look dull and brown.. Does that mean that my rocks are 'dead'?? If yes, are there any chance of revieving them?? or i have to change new rocks?? Pls advice..
  14. Thanks bro!! Will definately get a few of those by this weekend....
  15. Cleaner shrimp such as Scarlet Skunk? Actually i am thinking of getting 2 or 3 of such shrimps...
