Hi spidey,
i had similar problem and had seen Iwana sun tank, also same problem afer a period of time. my guess could be overfed . I left them as it is and now many smaller babies are growing
cheers
Thanks. Very interesting point.
I actually feed them every night. So if you think overfeeding is the cause, how frequently are you feeding to avoid this problem?
-
Thanks.
The sun coral was in a good condition and feeds readily. I bought it from another fellow reefer here.
So you guys do not know of any thing that will take a bite out of this coral?
-
Well, what happened was I found a polyp with some 'skin' missing overnight, so that I can see the white skeleton.
The question is what could have caused this?
The only non-coral in my tank is a cleaner shrimp. The sun coral is being fed daily or every other day.

Hi,
Anyone know how long one set of batteries will last on this torch, size of the torch, whether the output is regulated?
-
Can share what lighting you are using?
-
ermmm, so you test for molybdenum and strontium? Or just dose by approximation?
-
I fed my with phytoplankton and dose Strontium, Trace Elements as supplement

Thanks for the response!!
The 4th link was what I am afraid will happen eventually.
Mine is not open as fully as before.
Do you think phytoplankton alone is enough to sustain the coral? How long have you guys been keeping this coral?
-
Hi,
I have a goniopora that I have been feeding Coralife Invertebrate Target food and Aquaz supreme mix.
I was wondering what you guys feed to your goniopora, especially those who managed to keep it alive for > 1 year? Care to share?
Thanks.
*Note* I have read the articles by Albert J. Thiel and Julian Sprung.

Purple sand? Is tat Cynobac u r having ?
It could be..
it is a purple layer on the sand and some parts are stringy (moves in the flow).
It lessens if I shorten the lighting period or feed less.

I am new to this hobby.
Anyway, I have an anemone (bubble tip) for 1 month plus now so some suggestions:
i. Cover the filter inlets so they wouldn't get suck in (pict attached - mine)
ii. Create rocks with a hole/crevice where they can attach their base to at the location you want and place them there so that there is a higher chance of it staying there.
iii. Make sure you have light shining at that location as well. I am using PL light only but mine moved only once so far.
iv. Feed them.

Thanks for the tips.
The yellowish colour is due to the cool daylight Phillips PL.
I believe the nutrient level IS high due to dosing of plankton for the jewel. I don't have a solution for the purple sand yet
