  1. BarraCuda and onghm: for calulation of tank weight everyone, thanks for sharing info bout your tank, so i guess mine will come up to bout 300kg too. Seems like my cabinet should still hold the weight if i restrict my LR to I'm concern about the cabinet collapsing then tank cracking bez my cabinet look filmsy...on 1 divider in the middle.
  2. hi all, my 3 feet tank is 8mm sitting on a cabinet. After reading some post about sw heavier than fw etc...began to worry. i have a 4 inch dsb and going to add live rock. the display tank at the shop has fw with 50 kg sand(i ask) but no rocks, is there a huge difference between sw & fw weight for 3 ft?? has anyone actually heard of the whole tank collaspe??
  3. yup, i do have that protein skimmer. will be setting up my 3ft tank soon & will be turning this 2 ft into a hospital tank. will be buying coral sand #1 this weekend from marinelife for my dsb and i start concentrating on my new tank ...hope to get more help from you guys here.
  4. don't worry .....lesson won't buy anyhow anymore.
  5. since my fish die at rate of 1/week, i did not add new ones. So i reduce from 10 to 7 now and have been keeping 7 for quite a while.. nitrite is near to zero but have not test nitrate. i know nuts abouts coral so i'm so happy you guys pointed out one of my coral, so after looking some web pages, it seems flowerpot goniopora is the one on the right. I'll take note not to stock that anymore. Fish besides the crown is picasso trigger which so far has been quite nice to the corals....hope it last. Thanks for all comment.
  6. yazid's tank is superb.. i will go LFS to find small sump with pump instead of drilling hole. Btw, does anyone know where or who i can go to drill the hole if all else fail.
  7. My 2ft learning tank. After advice from bros here to reduce load, all fishes seem happy
  8. cannot leh ....my cabinet has a divider right in the middle ..must the sump be big?? i really don't mind a sump if i can still do it.
  9. Hi everyone, Will be starting a 3 ft marine tank without sump. Will be using a canister filter and 4 inch dsb. Can anyone help suggest what should be in the 3 compartment of my canister filter. I thought of filling 1 compartment with active carbon and 2 with bio rings and uses a pre-filter pad for mechanical filtration. However. that means i will have to open up the cannister very frequent to change the carbon. Do i really need carbon or is there a better way of including carbon filtration. I've got quite a lot of problem with my 2 feet tank marine tank and i hope to get it right this time. I know sump is a must have but its too late for me to alter the tnak and cabinet. Thanks
  10. I guess i just have to reduce my load ... i have 10 fishes in a 2 feet tank with only a 3 layer- cheap top filter and a eheim 2210 internal filter. I must admit i am a bit impatient but i thought 4 weeks is so bloodly long. I'm still testing and waiting for nitrate to go to zero. Is it really possible for nitrite to go to zero.?? Thanks for your links and advice & I think you got yourself a wonderful boxfish... do you mean rubbing the white spot off their skin ??
  11. Hi everyone, I'm new to marine fishkeeping, i am having a 2 feet tank with a mixture of damsel, clown sweetlips and box fish. After 4 weeks liao but the NO2 reading still at the high end and death rate for fish is 1 per week. ...does it seems right for NO2 to be still high after 4 weeks. Also my box fish has got white dots since yesterday ,,,, I'll be trying the garlie extreme soon.
