  3. I could go about it all day! :-) I have to say I'm not a big fan of 'local' products. Don't get me wrong, if they work thats great, but nothing beats R&D, quality control, and extensive testing which the German's do like no other. Just look at their cars!
  4. Just want to share my experience with the above product. Details at http://www.aqua-medic.de/index0.html. I've had 3 skimmers in less than a year - RedSea Prizm (noisy and crap quality), Tunze (good but not quite what I was after), and finally the Biostar Flotor (needlewheel). The Biostar is genuinely silent. Even stood next to it there is no noise. The quality is what you would expect for German products. I have had it for just over a week and it is churning out dark brown liquid. I have the air valve open to the max - I could reduce this to create a drier foam but I like what its producing. Plus, there are no air bubbles in the tank. It is rated for a tank size of up to 250 litres, even heavily stocked with SPS corals. I bought the Biostar at AquaMart, Jalan Besar. They are the main distributor for Aqua-Medic products - the shop is well worth a visit, lots of Aqua-Medic T5 tubes :-) The owner of the store was very helpful and said that the rotating bio-wheel, which is also part of the Biostar, will NOT become a nitrate factory. Again, this is what you pay for with German products. The cost is relatively high at $370 but it was worth every penny.
  5. Can someone please advice me what the correct/advised flow rate through a filter is? I am thinking of setting up a DIY fish & inverts tank and would like to know how to specify the correct pump for the sump.
