Traded some macros over the weekends with bro @JulianZxc, please help us with the ID if you are positive about it
This could be flat blade Gracilaria? And maybe Liagora?
And a bad news. The regal Tang died too it was the most aggressive fish in the tank. And there has been a series of mysterious death of healthy fishes recently.
I've also caught a Gorilla Crab Available for adoption immediately.Ending the post with photos of the inhabitances, please no more missing/dead fishes!

May 2018 FTS
How many types of green macros can you identify in the following photos?
The reds are still doing ok, can't say they are doing growing well. Heres a photo of a fat Mandarin pooping on it
And zoomed out view of the FTS. The macroalgae tank is surrounded by more greens.
And lastly, the evening view the fishes and critters get to enjoy.

red ruby dragonet!!! my fav!!! hope it can survive in ur tank. i heard their survival rates are low..
I hope so too, so far no problem with a pair of mandarin, they started with pods and now they're fatter after they started munching on frozen food and pallets.

And a FTS with the reds. There is also a new red ruby dragonet in the photo (In the middle cave!)

Finally found this beautiful red macro (Halymenia .sp). Maybe Red Ulva, maybe dragon's breath. Gotten a big bunch to be sure I don't lose them again

Wow the ochtodes really taking over!
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appLol yea! Easy with high flow + good nutrient, light provided by mother nature
11 hours ago, Jeebusai said:Very interesting concept bro. Very nice too! I don’t see any chiller. I read that sometimes temperature will go up to 31 degrees. Will it be too hot for the fishes? I’m newbie, camping here to learn! Lol
Thank you! I think it will be quite expensive to run a chiller for outdoor tank. It gets really sunny in the noon
These fishes are fine, i guess it means higher metabolic rate, so feed them twice a day.

My algae blenny disappeared also. I realized it was eating lesser. Than gone. Day one was with my rbta and lasted a year. I believe it's cos of diet. Imagine in the wild, they prob had a variety of stuff to eat. In my tank it won't even take pellets. Just hair algae. So their system slowly degrade, then die. I don't feed my corals or anything so the hair algae traps zero stuff except fish wastes.

hmmm.. mine was feeding really well though, too well in fact that it looked pregnant. it was still eating well the day before, and there are plenty of algae to graze on

The much beloved Starry blenny past away recently Sharing the last photo taken of this mysterious dude. Its favorite activity was basking in the sun and chilling on the Ochtodes. It happened soon after an RBTA was added, could it be related?
Also gotten 3 fan worms for this dirty tank. They look better in a cluster in my opinion.
And a sneak peek of upcoming macros/mangrove for the display tank. This is a photo of the refugium aka seaweed incubator. It consists of the following..
- Red Mangrove
- Caulerpa Racemosa
- Caulerpa Serrulata
- Caulerpa Prolifera
- Ulva
- Some tiny Fern Caulerpa which i can't ID.C. Racemosa

all sold! Thank you

Do you have problems with your macro going sexual and releasing nutrients back into the water?
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile appNo, i've problems of not enough nutrients which will cause the macro of going sexual, so im feeding the fishes aggressively and also dosing more nutrients (NO3,Iron,Mg..etc)

Loss pieces of Ochotdes for sales. SGD10 per piece (about a palm size per piece).
Self collect at my place in Clementi only.
Being porous in nature, it contains tiny critters such as baby brittle stars, worms, pods, tiny strain of other macroalgae..etc Not for those who don't like lots of hitch hikers.

I see. I thought the rain water will dilute your tank salinity
ah no, the balcony is not that opened, only very little rain water gets into the tank, infact most of the time when it rains, only the other half of the balcony gets wet. And then sometimes there will be freak storm but luckily that dont happen everyday
-
17 minutes ago, Killerwhale said:
Cool. So u measure the salinity daily?
nope, thats crazy! this is a fuss-free setup
I take NO3 reading more than salinity though, just to make sure the NO3 are measurable, it dips below 0-ppm too fast even when im overfeeding, and the macros wont be happy.

No rain get into your balcony tank.
Yep it does, doesnt matter. Built for outdoor

You have smaller amount? Probably purely only ochotdes. I afraid other algae spread like wild fire and out of control. Btw will snail eat away ochotdes?
Ah not at the moment, the smaller losses piece are are challenging to grow since they need high flow and needs to be fastened well. To provide better experience, i'd rather sell those which are already fastened. The other macros can be easily removed if they start getting out of control.

very nice Bro !!
btw where you collect you algae? can get some algae from you?
I have a filefish too.. but WTG anyone in future when other things stable
Oh yes the Filefish are really helpful especially to keep the aiptasia population in check.
Gotten the Ochtodes from MarineLife about 2 years ago. And yep they're available for sale, i've posted on 'buy and sell' recently. Do PM me for more details
9 hours ago, soggycookies said:Interesting direction you’re going in with the planted tank bro. Kudos. Btw correct me if I’m wrong but don’t Ochtodes also take in calcium to grow? Something different from what we’re used to seeing surely; a planted marine tank is certainly rare. Mangroves are far more common. Helps that we can pretty much get these things from local shores too heh.
Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
hmm.. not that i remember. I'm not dosing nor measuring calcium neither. Still dosing the same chemical as shown below. Oh yes Mangroves can be beautiful too if the roots are used as display/shelter for fishes
