  1. I will get some brine shrimp from Iwarna this Friday then. Cyclopeeze sounds like a good option too so will buy a can. Thanks everyone
  2. Hello, I bought a pictilis (painted) anthias over the weekend and so far it's not being eating. I have thrown in new life spectrum small sized pellet, formula two pellets, frozen mysis shrimp soaked in garlic juice and Two Little Fishies' zoplan zooplankton and it doesn't touch any of these stuff. How do I get it to munch some food? Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the compliments Regarding the blue loisettae and nobilis staghorns, I do intend to let them grow up to the water surface and then I will frag them.
  4. Aussie "real deal" acropora echinata
  5. Growth of yellow acropora prostrata from July 2012 till Nov 2012 July 2012 Nov 2012
  6. A couple of blue acropora staghorns.
  7. Some quick shots taken. Tonga pink stylo
  8. Sorry to read about the loss of some of your SPS colonies. As a forummer has pointed out, gloves are the solution for your skin reactions to saltwater. Do you know what caused some of your SPS corals to die?
  9. Progress has not been as good as I wanted to with the brown sps colonies. I guess being on the sandbed is not an ideal location for them. I will post some tank photos over the next couple of weeks.
  10. Either way will do. I dose it with other additives when the skimmer is switched off.
  11. depends on your tank conditions and coral species
  12. Move the WB to 10K (or higher if your camera allows it) to get a truer representation of coral colours. Also, utilize a free photo editing software tool like Picasa or a commercial one like Photoshop Elements to obtain those actual colours and also to get rid of a washed out look.
  13. You have get the white balance right. What camera are you using?
  14. My usage of Ultra Amin is in combination with the FM full ultralith package (zeolite stones, ultrabio - bacteria, ultrabak - bacteria food and ultra mins - amino acids for all corals)
  15. The effects are more obvious and hence positive.
  16. It's a great additive for SPS corals as you have pointed out, polyp extension is lengthened and obvious even during periods when the aquarium lights are switched on.
  17. They have some very good products for SPS corals based on my experience in using them since March 2012.
  18. My recent "experiment" which started a few months ago has been the acquisition of a few browned-out sps colonies from some LFSes and to try and see if I can restore them to their original colourful selves. Due to premium space on the rock work being taken up by colourful sps corals, the brownies are relegated to the sand bed I have managed to restore an acropora lokani almost back to its full glory (bright blue tips) but the rest have been kind of slow. The list of brownie experiment specimens are a.lokani, a tongan unknown roundish acro, a.sarmentosa and an a.humilis. Will post some pics.
  19. Kitkat acros love high light and especially high flow. They are aggressive acros so no worries about other SPS corals encroaching on them. My zeovit bottles were from reef depot which were bought before they stopped bringing them in. You can order from online vendors like sewatec.com or buy them from one of the authorised LFS dealers in Hong Kong if you are there. When I get the new Fauna Marin new Reef Elements 1-3, I will stop all zeovit additives and will switch exclusively to FM products.
  20. A small update on what I have been dosing. Still the same => Ultralith basic 4 package, KZ zeovit Potassium-Iodide Fluoride Added 2 months ago => Ultra Amin (amino acids for SPS corals), Salifert amino acids, KZ Zeovit Pohl's Xtra I finished my Fauna Marin Powertrace 1-4 two months ago and am now waiting for their new Reef Elements 1-3 bottles to arrive in Singapore. Will try those out.
  21. See if you can spot it (little red stag) next to the yellow prostrata The colour has deepened and the tips have grown longer but is getting overshadowed by its prostrata neighbour. Fragging the prostrata needs to happen (again).
  22. I can spare a couple of frag cuttings from my fire-and-ice zoa mat. For those who are interested, PM me.
  23. Thanks for the detailed experiences, Gary. Have your sps polyps lengthened? If they have, it's due to your dosing of amino acids (one of your bottles in the Polylab package). There's hardly any first hand accounts of using Polylab by reefers so your comments are appreciated. Personally, I firmly believe in carbon dosing (polylab, zeovit, fauna marin, etc) as the best method in lowering NO3 and PO4 and maintaining these low levels indefinitely.
