I am thinking of getting the Denitrator XD600 to control the nitrate level. I am wondering if anybody is using this or other equipment to control nitrate level and can provide some feedback. I do perform partial water change every fortnight but nitrate level is sometimes still high. Thank you.

Improving water quality via daily water change is ideal. However, it can be time consuming and costly (if you use expensive salt mix). Factors to consider like how much to change to be effective. Changing too little may have little overall impact while changing too much will disturb the balance in the water i.e. the temp, pH, salinity etc. So, I would suggest an immediate treatment, use medication and then do partial water change gradually.

For a cheap and effective cure for white spots, slime etc, you can try using "Gentian Violet" from Guardian Pharmacy. It cost only $4.60 for a 125 ml bottle. Please use with extreme care!

Hi fellow reefers, Anybody has any experience in keeping dogfish? They look rather tame but not sure if they'll feed in captivity. Is it advisable to keep them with tangs and angelfishs? Thanks for advice!
