  5. No protein skimmer....nano setup? Not easy to maintain for a starter.....Anyway, I also disagreed using fish to cycle the tank. But if insist. Can go Changi breach and catch the small fishes there. Is easy to catch and all very hardy. I used to go there to catch these small fishes as live food from my marine tank.
  6. Hmm...should pay a visit tomorrow there and see see..... I also saw two Maxi clams (Green) in Seletar today selling at $80/- each. Is beautiful ! Very temping to buy too but due to my reef setup is not suitable for clams (I'm just using 4x 10K FL lighting system for my 4ft tank), so just brought the SW for my water change.
  7. Another gd. overseas forum on SW can visit : www.Fishindex.com. I start my marine lesson from there. Very freindly and helpful ppl. there.
  8. Some info for the Multicolour angel: The Multicolor Angelfish, also known as the Pastel Pygmy Angelfish or Many-colored Angelfish, is pale peach-orange to yellow. Black speckles on a background of blue highlight an area just behind the eyes. The dorsal and ###### fins are blue-black while the caudal fin is yellow. In bright contrast to its other colors, there is a horizontal swatch of silvery-white from mid-body to the caudal fin. The Multicolor Angelfish needs a minimum of a 30 gallon tank with lots of hiding places and live rock for grazing on microalgae. It does best in subdued lighting, since in the wild, it is a deep-water swimmer. If the Multicolor Angelfish is to be housed with other dwarf angels, a 55 gallon or larger tank is required. Not a good reef dweller, the Multicolor Angelfish is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. It is sensitive to copper-based medications. The diet of the Multicolor Angelfish should include Spirulina, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysid or frozen shrimp, and other high-quality meaty items. Rgds
  9. Hmmm.....so Pac Marine do have Golden Angel b4 ah......shuld visit them more often. Multicolour angel, try Pac Marine again, they carried angels that I seldom find in other fish farm...they do have a good collection of SW fishes.
  10. Dwarf angels - reef safe with cautions which they tends to 'Ka-jaio' the soft corals. I keep 3 dwarfs - Flame, Coral B. and a Bio-colour angels in my reef tank. So far they get along each others betty well......
  11. Hi guys, want to meet at Seletar Fish Farm at no. T95? Big place, good collection of live stocks (I hope there a new incoming). Anyway, I will be there afternoon around 2 to 3pm to purchase SW for my water change. Rgds

  13. Well.....I'm not so old after all ! me 35, 3 kids......4 ft reef/fish tank. Running for a year now. Every Sat family outing is visiting SW fish farm........So state down the details in this forum and will meet you'll up for Kopi talk.....best plan after 2pm......
  14. Hi Eddy, I think is better you chose the type of fishes and corals you like from pic. or LFS. Once you targeted the types, do some home work see if it suitable for your tank setup. A lot ppl. here can easily advise you many hardy fishes and corals for starter but you may not like it. Eg. go for damsels or mushroom which you may not like it at all or you may start with them, keep for a period of time, end up find it not nice, other is better so give away and find it so diff to catch them out, end up has to tear down the full setup for just one or two fishes and so on. Waste time, money and even lives (fishes & corals). Plan for the fishes or corals you intend to keep from start, do reseach on each indiviual info. in details, ask around, make a comparision check and setup your tank to suit them. Is much better in this way, do it right at the 1st time. Reef/Fish keepping is very diff. just FOWLR and of cos' totally diff. from FW. Just my comments.
  15. Hey, I got 3 children now, oldest Pri 4 liao.....is that means I'm the oldest around here.....
  16. Well, I setup another tank not only on one Trigger but purchase another two more and ofcos' for the 'mis-behave' fishes like damsels. Bat fish not only require big space to swim but it will eat many types of sessile invertebrates including corals and anemones. That why is marked "Not Reef Safe".
  17. Batfish is nice and paceful fishes but they need fairly large space to swim and they are not reef safe. Usually need to keep in > 55 US gal. FOWLR tank. My nightmare should be trigger fishes. The very 1st trigger (Picaso) I purchased destory my 1st reef tank and also killed a lot of my others smaller fishes there. B4 I brought this fish, the person in LFS told is a hardy fish for starter and it safe, a community fish, just $8/- each..........so I brought it and......just within a week, only bare LR & one fish in my tank.....Now, just be'cos of this fish, I have to setup another tank just for killer. Spend another few hundred on LR, others hardwares etc. So you see....an expensive lessons....
  18. AT, you are right! Should do some home work b4 purchase any live stocks. If not, end up killing them or others get killed........This is what I like internet forum, tons of info to share
  19. Errr....always one to have clams in my reef but just too bad, my reef setup are not suitable for them.......
  20. Garlic oil from health food stores.....can it use? Do they have other chemicals in it that may cause problem in future? Anyway, I used to use Kent marine garlic extract, one small btl for $20/- , a bit Ex but now, I do the garlic juice myself by using fresh garlic purchased from the market.....very much cheaper and it works. I feed my fishes with garlic soaked food every other day for a year now just to prevent the ick coming back again.
  21. That pests? My wife and I saw once in the LFS and was priced at $16 per rock. My wife loves it as it look nice but anyway, I did buy due to that pcs was not so heathy. Heng ah.......
  22. Hi, good idea....why not....I will like to if got such get along session. Count me in.
  23. Hi ECBM, nice to know you are starting reef keeping. If you intend to keep corals, it will be better for you to invest a chiller. 31oC is not good for corals reef and most of the corals temp. should best maintain at 26.5oC +- 1oC. Ofcos' below 30oC is still OK for some but if you ready want a nice and success reef tank. Water temp. is one of the factor to consider abt. Try at lest add a A/C cooling fan for the tank cost around $35 if you are ready under to invest on chiller currently. I'm also using canister filters for my 4ft. (2x2217) for a year now so I would said filteration system is not an issues. Protein skimmer, $20 type is OK, just change the air stone to wooden air stone, better performance. Lighting system for your 3ft, Depend on what corals you intend to keep, if hard corals, best MH but FL still workable at 2x20K, 1x10K marine white & 1x10K Marine blue. If you are target on soft corals which require less light, 3x10K white with 1x10k blue will do the job. The problem of FL is that you have to change the tube every 1/2 a year. Well my comments is just on the few basic hardwares which there more to add. And as per AT's advise on the 'software' like patience, planning, know what you are doing or jumping into it are also factors that not to be skip. Anyway, do ask in this forum and you will get your ans. easily as there a lot of experience reef keepper around. Not me of cos' I'm just in K2 lah.....
