Thanks Keith, that's a great website. By the way, I thought both purple and the normal fire goby are quite hardy. Did you have problem keeping the purple?

Thanks, Lightning Strike, you are fast and really live up to your name. -
Hi, Is it necessary to keep normal fire gobies or purple firegoby in pairs or is it ok to keep them singly? If a pair is to be kept, is it necessary to get a mated pair? Thanks.

Hi, does any LFS or fish farms in S'pore bring in this fish? Thanks.

Yellow Rose High Fin Goby

Yes, Yellowbelly, I'm facing this problem, not seeing the fish at all and likely not eating for a while, hope it will not pass on but be more active like my cute little golden neon goby that is always so visible. Hope to find the Blue Neon Goby to add to my goby collection. -
Hi Bob, Pardon my ignorance, I have no idea of what's a grape algae or poci can. Do you have pictures to attach? Is the algae more for the sump or the display tank? Rgds.

Yellow Rose High Fin Goby
Happy Reefer replied to Happy Reefer's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Thank you FuEl, your comments are very helpful. Are you based in S'pore? Which LFS in S'pore usually bring in these 2 spp of pistol shrimps, esp randalli? Will a medium sized cleaner shrimp attack & eat the randalli shrimp? Rgds. -
I've just a bought a Yellow Rose High Fin Goby. It was the last piece found in the LFS. Realised later that this goby is usually found in pairs. Does anyone know the differences between the male & female so in future I can purchase a "spouse" for this one that I have? Would also appreciate anyone sharing success stories in keeping this goby. Thanks.

Would like to swop my Banded Coral Shrimp for any small corals or any other reef-safe organisms. Not interested in damsels. Thanks.

Hi Reefers, thanks for chipping in on your experience & the advice. Wow! Gouldian, I'm amazed you can have 3 powerheads in a 3 ft tank. Your LS must be enjoying a great rolling time of turbulence.

Eh?? Separate what?? with PVC pipe.

Thanks, what does HOB stands for?

Hi Nano Reefers, Recently, I bought a SEIO M620 powerhead and install it on the right side (top 1/3) of the tank, blowing across the tank. Initally, the powerhead was facing diagonally downwards but it cause some sand turbulence with a little sand covering my tongue coral, so I adjusted it to blow horizontally across. Somehow, I still feel the current is a bit too strong though I've adjusted the water flow to less flow (but too little flow would defeat the purpose of generating water movement). My hammers are still opening but seems to be "blown" a little too much by the powerhead. PS: I also use an external JEBO filter cannister with returning water through holes on a horizontal bar placed in the water. Does anyone use SEIO 620 for their 2 ft tank? What's your experience like? Is there any optimal way to place a powerhead in the 2 ft tank in relation to the returning flow of filtered water? Hope to learn something from you all. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for sharing. Just want to be sure that no one has a nasty experience of this shrimp ripping the corals apart coz I have one such shrimp in my reef tank now. Rgds.

Hi, I read in LiveAquaria that this shrimp can destroy corals and anemones by nipping them open to feed on ingested food. Yet it is reef-safe?? I'm confused.... Anyone had bad experience with this shrimp on their corals? Heard this is not a friendly tankmate....true or not? Thanks for sharing.

LFS Stock Update : 23rd to 29th May 2005
Happy Reefer replied to RAV-65's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
Any Blue Neon Goby seen recently? Am looking for one. Thanks. -
Thanks Veliferium. My plate coral is at least 10 cm in diameter. How big a chunk of meat should I give it? Should I target the food at the slit in the centre (is that the mouth?) or just at the tentacles tips, will do?

Hi, I've just bought a pink-tip plate coral. Overnite, it swelled to almost double its size. I have to re-arrange the corals on my sand bed to accomodate this "monstrous" coral especially when I read in LiveAquaria that it is an agressive coral. I need advice on what to feed this spp of plate coral and the feeding frequency? Is phytoplankton on alternate day good enough? Or do I need to feed more meaty food (like fish eggs, mysis shrimps, prawn meat) at least once a week? Would also appreciate other respone on care of this type of coral. Thanks.

How to Get Flame Angel to Eat?
Happy Reefer replied to Happy Reefer's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Thanks Blackpuma, my Flame Angel has already started to eat Ocean Nutrition 2 pellets and has acclimatized very well to my tank. Thank you for your suggestion. -
Any interest, anyone?

Any keen soul for the hawkfish? Don't worry, it's healthy and eating well. About 6.5-7 cm. Am thinking of adding small gobies so kind of worried that it may attack them.
