  1. Anyone here has any successful exp in pairing up difficult clowns? Percs esp... Currently have a pair... Although there's a diff in size between the 2 of them but the bigger still likes to bully the smaller one... Now the smaller one like too stress to even eat properly... When I throw in food, it has got not much reaction... So now I house the naughty one in a DIY container that is like those LFS uses... My topic is hopefully the smaller one can get acclimatise beta and become healthier first... Anyone care to share?
  2. Agree with Kelmen... Picture pls... Wanna see too cos wanna keep nemos for my daughter and my wife says must have anemones!!!
  3. Thanks Flame-Tail... Will head down to Koon Seng Rd/ Reborn the moment they opened... XPeriment 626... Dunno leh... Reseting means wait til dunno when again... Really very reluctant. Since my BTA survived, my discosomas survived, my hermit survived, I'll just chk parameters and assess from there... Jus hope that my beneficial aerobic bact dun die off too much... iori_del... Yah, I realised that... Biggest mistake is nvr monitor cos when I first added sugar nothing happened after 5hrs... When i saw my clowns died in the overflow, my only guess is pH shock or sudden depletion of O2 as some ppl say oxygen is used by bact during the process???
  4. Thnx bro... That's why asking for which LFS sells seawater... Can't mix anymore water cos dun wanna use tap water direct... Not using the skimmer now cos my skimmer dun look efficient... Will the cloudy water return to normal w/o skimming? Will my other aerobic bacteria die?
  5. Huh? Was thinking of changing more water to neutralise the effect... But maybe u're rite... I give the water another nite to see how... hopefully can see my MIA LS inside the tank to assess loss... Thanks...
  6. Can someone advise on where to get fritzyme cos i believe with deaths in tank, sure got NH3... So want to prevent new tank syndrome...
  7. Hi everyone, After reading a thread abt adding sugar to reduce nitrate, I decided to give it a try in my tank(abt 2 by 1 by 1.5 no sump)... After adding abt 1 teaspoon of sugar, went out with wife shopping and then send her to work. Abt 5hrs later when I reach home, saw the tank turn super cloudy... Immediately run to tank to see... 2 clowns up lorry... Cleaner shrimp also up lorry... the rest of LS, can't be seen cos water really cloudy... Now super worry abt my mushies and BTA... I think more likely up lorry liao cos jus found corpse of my blue tang. Wat can I do now? I have a Weipro 2011 skimmer, do I fix it up and hope to clear up the cloudiness? Wonder if changing water will help cos jus now change 15L(25% of my tank size) but still super cloudy. Thinking of changing water again... Therefore would like to know which LFS in the East sell Seawater? Thanks... No chiding now pls...
  8. Mine is abt 2ft by 1ft(w) by 1.5ft(ht)... I calculated that my tank size is 60+ litres. Recommended dosage is 1 bottle($17 size cos I know got another bigger bottle at$30+) to 60+ litres or something like that... So i pour half in, waited half a day then another half... Wat does pathogenic means? Btw, biggest lesson learnt is must have "house" for bacteria... that is filtration system must be sufficient for bacteria to grow... I started my first 5 days with 1 bag of coral chips the size of my palm thinking it'll mature my tank... Wat a fool...
  9. Sorry hor, newbie so ask this... Wat happens if after 5min there's still food left in the water? Do u take it out? Or u also try to gauge how much they'll eat and feed according to amt...
  10. I also added fritzyme #9... After cycling water with live rocks inside for 7 days and the Ammonia and nitrite still high, impatient liao then go buy 1 bottle... added in already, 4 to 5 days later, Ammonia and Nitrite both drop to 0... I was very surprised also but it happened. I added 2 false clowns and 1 hermit crab day after i added fritzyme #9... Jus to let u know my exp but i believe everyone has their own opinions and may exp different things even if using same steps...
  11. U guys are amazing... I must go for more trg... Thnx... Should be the sand hopper... Cos the mouth more pointed, scooter face more flat... not chio... sharp face more chio...
  12. Alright guys, I understand liao. Thnx for sharing the info. I also think there's something to do with the bacteria. Well, thnx for sharing the exp with us, I'm sure people like me do benefit. I sense something's wrong... Pls pardon newbie that doesn't newbie who nvr see real sand sifters work before... Didn't realise definitely that they can dig under the rocks... Now makes me worried whether to keep garden eel in my main tank in the future...
  13. Can some exp reefers help me identify this fish? Looks like scooted blenny... But dun seem to match those pics from liveaquaria... LFS told me its lizard goby but dun match also... abt 3.5inch long... The fish's eyes can move in different direction at the same time like a chamelon...
  14. Well, I guess I can understand that your sand bed contains useful bacteria but like what apollo said, it's just a small part of it, i tot... Probably it just topple the balance even if it's only a little... Wonder how people keep Garden Eel in their main tank though... They also dig so wonder if they'll cause such harm to the tank too... Anyone care to comment?
  15. I understand this is a long kept thread but since it fits my learning purpose just pick it up to learn more things. Bro ciaolong, y DSB shldn't use sand sifters? Many thanks...
  16. I jus bought a new Blue Tang and upon reaching home, i see some greying spots on some parts of the body... As I'm a newbie, i'm not very sure if it's ick. What shld i do? What are the implications if i put the BT into my main tank anyway? Will it spread to other fishes? If not, anyone care to advise on what shld i do? I dun have a QT now and i think too late to start one rite?
  17. Sorry, what does CF stands for anyway?? If shop name, what is full name and where is it? Thnx...
  18. Thinking of using this approach. I think the whole idea is that once the food drop to the tank bed, they dunno how to pick it.(The hermit crab damm happy.) But still can't figure a good way... Anyway, now the bigger clown is eating liao. Smaller one still hang around at the same corner. Think not used to the new environment yet... Thnx everyone...
  19. Thnx for the various opinions... Btw, when u guys say freshly chopped shrimps. Does it mean it's those shrimps thats bought from mkt? Or it's those feeder shrimps from LFS? Will freshwater ones do? Sorry, newbie here.
  20. Hi, can anyone tell me how can i feed pellet food to my clowns cos the pellet that I dropped all sunk to the sand bed by the time the clowns realiase... Apart from pellots and flakes? What other type of food does it take?
  21. Hey, thnx for the replies... Chked liao, it was 14W so its NO... The $200 set is HO, 24W... DIY means buying tubes, the holder and the balast? Any idea where can I get them?
  22. Ok, will chk it out. But care to share how big a wattage is HO?
  23. Sorry ah... Maybe i read n understand wrong info... Was following this e-mail lesson thingy abt set up... Think its talking abt fluorescent tube. So it stated got NO, HO and VHO so i must have gotten it mixed up... Anyway, do u haf any comments abt the huge diff in pricing? Is it cos one is NO andthe other is HO or could it be cos of brand?
  24. Sorry to hijack this thread but since I'm a newbie and is interested to know abt maintaining pH level... Am wondering apart from adding additives, what are the other methods that i can use to rasie pH?
