  1. I use inflatable pool when I shift my tank. 1 pool can contain about 400 ltrs. Can be flatten and store when not in use. Is it possible to lay #0 sand on top of the coral chips? Maybe after cleaning it with a subtrate cleaner. Any consequences? I may need to do the same thing. But my coral chips is "tiny", not sure # what. Definitely not #0 or #1.

  3. Hi Guys, I've got on the 22nd last week.
  4. thought you just have to soak the rock in fresh water, the bugger will die.
  5. I'm using eheim 1060 (50watts 2250l/h) on weipro 1014. I've to close (>1/2) the ball valve prior to the inlet of pump, and fully open the skimmer height adjustment. Wonder how you use 2500l/h (80watts) on 1012 without overflowing the collection cup?

Hi Alvy, I've a spare 1060 and a spare impellor. What pvc body should I buy? Could you elaborate. If cost not too high, I would like to try.

  8. Hey Kee, my internet connection very slow leh. Waste my time trying to find out what's hiding in "How, teach me. fishes". Be more descriptive in your title next time hor.
  9. Clowntrigger, I'm also getting a probe. Will appreciate it if you can let me know when you managed to find the exact shop at SLT. Maybe we can go together and get bulk discount. hehe....
  10. Wow, nice to be the center piece decoration in my tank How much are you letting go?
  11. hehe, "grinded" GAC Thanks so much for the help AT.
  12. I think its black cloudy. Not very cloudy, but not as crystal clear. I have accidentally spill some GAC and suck by the return pump to the main tank. Is this the cause? Which cotton filter brand can remove the dust?
  13. AT, Does it mean I have to accept it? My tank is still clowdy after 4 days. Skimmer still don't skim. Redox has dropped from about 400 to 320. How long does it take for all these to return to normal? It seems unusual Is there any cotton filter that could trap the dust? Any good brand to recommend?
  14. Yes, I know a guy who did that and supply it to T9*. It seems like local water is not as bad. This guy is a freelance in this business. I supposed his charges will be lower than market rate. PM me for his contact if you're interested.
  15. My diagram is conformed accurate. Suspect your switch is faulty. I do not have a pic of my setup using the switch. Actually I'm using a different switch (purchased 4-5 years ago) for the water topup. Difference is the switch "trigger point". e.g. switch is closed when water level is 5 inches high, and switch is opened when water level is 7 inches high.
  16. Hi Guys, How do you wash your activated carbon before putting them into the filter? I'm using Seachem activated carbon. Now my tank is cloudy, black ashes on glass & the protein skimmer don't skim. Before using it, I've already rinsed it thoroughly. I've tested a second batch, wash & soak in tap water for 2 days in filter bag. It's still leaching despite washing it again for several times. Anyone, please advice.
  17. BTW, jerry can is air tight originally. I have checked my float switch. Hope you know what the blue lead is now.
  18. In fact I've changed from reservoir + powerhead method. Reason: -Slimmer tubing -Reservoir may invite mosquito breeding -Air pump consume lessor power, a small one will work -Jellycan occupies lessor space, cos it's taller and slimmer -Water topup in jellycan is easier, just carry it to the toilet. Need long pipes from toilet to topup reservoir.
  19. To clarify, my LS=Live sand. Even dead sand should do a good cycling job.
  20. Can you elaborate on this? I supposed LS+Market prawn technic is as good
  21. A check valve (aka one-way valve) allows air/water to flow only in one direction. It will restrict water from flowing backward to the ozoniser for our case. I bought mine at clementi, its last piece (the stainless steel one) when I bought it. I think most planted tank lfs should carry good quality type. Mine was given from friend. I saw one taiwan brand at Reborn, only $50+. Read from EmpererAngel it wasn't reliable.
  22. I uses a check valve for my ozoniser. Don't buy those plastic $1-$2 type. It will not "checked" after 1 day. I'm using a stainless steel type, > 1 month already still ok.

    Fire

Really!! Is it a submersible (powerhead) or hang-on (place on the o/h filter) motor pump? Can a submersible pump caught fire?
