  1. gunzo as you can see from the picture of my very dirty overflow, I silicon the whole strip and not individual teeth. No need dry out whole tank. Just clean and wipe dry the top edge of the overflow where the egg crate is to be siliconed. BTW nice starfish you have as an avatar. Is it still around?
  2. If I were you I wount touch the parts that are siliconed to the glass through a hole. You can saw off the joints as shown and just switch places. Since you are using the same sump then the height will be the same. Just buy 2 PVC connectors to join back the pipings. That is if I were you. Maybe other bros here got a better way to do it.
  3. Had follow this thread right from the start. Time to say something... Very nice tank! Can see the efforts being put in. BTW the whale shark has invaded your tank. Just a harmless joke please dont feel offended.
  4. Reefzzz... Drop by your place to view the T5 either on Fri or weekend if you are free. I should be getting the car back soon together with a hole in the pocket.
  5. Silicon will do just fine. Just remember to cure for at least 24hrs after that.
  6. Tank is clean and ready to go. As good as new. Pls provide own transport and manpower. Collection AMK. Some sort of token will be appreciated, maybe a pack of filter wool. PM me if interested.
  7. I think its Osaka and they've got sunfish too, really nice. The 1 in Atlanta got 2 or 3 whale sharks too. Dont know which documentary you refering to. Discovery or nat geo? Actually which tank is bigger? The 1 in Japan or US? And no... ah seng aquarium do not sell whale sharks.
  8. I used to have those. Some worms inside the LRs. Sometimes you get to see the stuff being shot out from the LRS. Nothing to worry about.
  9. Nice meeting you Rocks and thx. Sad to see the curtain close for your tank. Lets help this friendly bro out to clear his stuffs.
  10. While waiting for the thread starter to appear, have a look at my tank just to kill time.
  11. Agree with mansiz. Turn the sump around and rework your pipings. Better in the long run. Your return pump work so hard 24hrs a day everyday non stop. Help it a little.
  12. Im using egg crates aka light diffuser. Unless its a very small overflow, mostl likely giantbicycle will need 2 sets of overflow teeth.
  13. Acrylic doesnt bond well using silicon. And gluing acrylic isnt easy either to make it leak proof. Better ask around and search for a 2nd hand. If the tank is empty and not too big why not consider making an internal or external overflow.
  14. Why spend $20+ for a piece of plastic strip? Anyway the plastic part below the overflow teeth quite thick, about 1-2". So if your overflow is already high, it will push your water level even higher. So if you wanna raise your water level or dont mind paying for it, get those at AM. If not just use egg crates. White ones can get at any fish LFS. Black ones Ive seen Aquastar selling.
  15. Wah... Now then say wrong h/p no. *Smack forehead*
  16. It doesnt affect the flow rate. If you ever look at those filter mats before, you will find that its very sparse and loosely binded sort of like plastic. It just keeps the tenents in the tank from getting too close to the water intake of the wavemaker. Especially if you are running a powerful wavemaker. Im running 2 Seio 1100 and its like 2 big mouse trap for my fishes. Another thing ive noticed is if the wavemaker is placed too near the water surface, sometimes air will get sucked in also. But now it doesnt happen. Just saw my sea hare crawled across the wavemaker... Its safe! Hopefully i can find something nicer to replace it. Anyone seen black filter mats before?
  17. Good price for a good skimmer. Especially after you took the trouble to mod it. Bump for you.
  18. Decided to do this simple DIY after my sunburst got sucked and killed and nearly made rabbit stew out of my seahare. Dont know if anyone has done this but hopefully someone will find this useful for preventing fishes or other inverts from getting suck into the wavemaker. Material used green filter mat found laying around. Will be looking for stiffer and nicer material to replace it. Pictures should be simple enough to understand. Flow rate of wavemaker isnt affected. Just make sure to get rid of any loose bits before fitting it around the water intake.
  19. Selling 1 sand dollar for $5. Size is about 8-9cm across. Collection at Ang Mo Kio or Jln Kayu. Interested party pls post a reply here and PM me your contact number.
