  1. Need a good skimmer to fit into sump of 8.5" width. main tank is 200L. Max. footprint preferably within 8.5" but can also be up to 12" (need to cut out one compartment in the sump) Height, including clearence for removing collection cup should be within 25". pls PM me your offers. thanks.
  2. thats great tineng. I have also done the mod with the 24W T5 into my 3' NO ballast casing. So far so good. the only thing is I am no sure if my NO ballast is 30W or 21W as it Dymax has both types of 3' T5 tubes. Anyone knows how to test the real wattage rating of the ballast?
  3. yeah, i see your point. but how can i explain my lights with 2 different power ratings (21W and 30W) driven by the same ballast. Alredy 1 year and stil going strong even though this car driven by wrong engine apparently.

    Need help

Anyway, the casings are also not really permanent. You can strip them later if you dunt want tham anymore. but you may have to paint back the pealed paintwork afer you strip. a few ways you cna secure the casings. some casing have built in doublesided tape, but its not so strong sumtimes but does not leave a mark on the wall. the othertype is by nailing it to the wall which means more damage later when u remove it. stil another way, a temporary solution which i have tried is by using bluetack to stick the casing to the wall. i think one pack is enuf for your application. with the casings its neater and safer.
  5. what kind of gate valve? where do u fit it to?
  6. travy, may I know is the tetra test kit you use the chemical liquid mix or the test strip type?
  7. the blacks ones that i've seen are supposedly not meant for piping water. they are to be used as electrical conduit casings. I was about to buy some from the hardware shop the other day, until I asked for some Tjoints for the pipes and they showed me a t-pipe with holes for screws. not sure if there pipes can fit the Tjoints for the waterpipes, but even if can, means u have black pipes with grey joints.
  8. I also just found out that inside my set of 3' dymax t5, one tube is 21W and the other is 30W. Anyone knows what is the actual ballast wattage rating for 3' dymax t5?
  9. Update: i will be getting the 2' t5HO tubes tonight from diablos. meanwhile still looking for a proper light set for my 2.5'. If anyone has a 2' set that can sit on a 2.5' tank, I will also consider. Let me know hoefully before I cut up my 2 sets of 3' dymax t5. or anyone want to swop, also can.
  10. just to add, my tank is a 2.5' x 40cm width.
  11. just some notes form my experience, if the skimmer needs a pump in the main tank, you need to consider heat and aesthetic issues.
  12. thanks ervine. but i would like to try swapping the 3' t5NO with 2't5HO without changing the ballast. Anyone with spare, used, old, but working 2' t5HO to sell cheap for me to try?
  13. considering to get the above lights or ballast for my downgrading exercise to 2.5'. for light set, prefer sit on type and not hanging type. Anyone who wants to let go the referred items, please let me know your offer via pm. thanks!! Also if anyone have spare, old but working 2' t5HO tube letting go cheap, let me know as I wanna use for testing purposes. hopefully those staying in sengkang or east area.
  14. I am thinking of modifying my 3' dymax to fit my 2.5' tank (downgrading exercise). I can cut the casing to the length I want, fix 2' HO tubes into it and put back the end caps of the casing. Would I have to change the ballast? the current tubes in the housing are rated 21W, if I am not mistaken so I am thinking it should be able to fire up a 24W T5HO without a problem. Anyone thinks this idea can or cant work, feedback appreciated. thanks!
  15. anyone with a 24W (blue or white) to trade with my 1 x 36W PL blue tube. Bought it a few months ago, but never used it as its of the wrong size for my PL casing. trading place in Sengkang or east Singapore.
  16. xbox tentatively reserved. will post again if it becomes available again. thnks for the interest
  17. price reduce. $140 for xbox and controllers or $150 with the games.
  18. I am downgrading from 4' to a 2.5'x1'x1.2' and I have 8 chromis currently. Any tots if the 2.5' would be too cramped for it cuz it seems they love to swim to and fro and pity if I going to cramp thier lifestyle. how many would be suitable for 2.5 footer? otherwise maybe have to give all for adoption. My other livestocks are maroon clown (2.5"), sailfintang(3") sallylightfoot cleanershrimp 4 snails 1 hermit crab
  19. pls excuse the non-marine item. xbox, black. 2yrs old but seldom used and in gd condition. with 2 controllers. Price not including games. I have 3 original games 1CD(SEGA GT2002 + Jetsetradio) + 1CD(Soldier of Fortune, no box), with minor scratch on CDs but still can play. For reefers only, can bundle all in with xbox console at $170. Also can consider trade with good protein skimmer (eg. small aquaC or H&S to fit into my sump). Thanks people!
  20. nope, I checked with him. its for 2-3ft. unfortuntely for me its hanging type. i need sumthing with stand.
  21. that looks like 25ppm - 50ppm to me. thanks for sharing bros, its good info for unknowing reefers like me who thinks our tap water is good enough untreated. Makes me also wunder what long term effects high nitrate drinking water has on humans.
  22. i had the same "shock" whn i saw the carcass of my cleaner shrimp. turns out its ok. and when it happened to my sallylightfoot, i knew what to expect. my concern with the bigger critters is that it cant get in between the rocks as it used to, therfore it cant b a efficient cleaners as they once were isnt it? Anyone knows how big the sallylightfoot can become?
  23. i agree with flyingcarpet. With regard to cover, make sure it can house the lighting you plan to have and some ventilation. for cabinet, if you have a particular skimmer in mind, maybe you want to get a cabinet that can fit it .. otherwise u cna also choose a skimmer to fit your cabinet i guess. for main tank a height and bredth of 1.5' of more will give u some sense of depth space to landscape. also gd idea to have a little thicker glass too as you may be leaning some heavy rocks on it and may knock them around while landscaping.
  24. still havnt found what i;m looking for. anyone who wants to let go the above equipment, pls sms me at 97623162 to know my offer. thanks!
  25. Have you made sure the flow adjustment ring is set to maximum? My 820 produced bubbles everytime i try to restrict its flow by closing the adjustment ring (this is the big one with the gratings, not the blue knob). sorry to hear about your nemo. which kind is it? i think some species more prone to jumping than others. my maroon always stay at the bottom sweeping the sandbed and mess up my landscape. .. and i agree the manual wasnt very useful, especially misled me to search hig hand low for one of the brackets shown in the drawings, but actually not included in the package.
