cornyfish, hey, i was at lot 35 today. So those tiny stuff in the bags are anemone crabs are. So tiny i didn't bother checking them out. Was looking for prawns.

Would like to know what i'm keeping in my tank. Couldn't resist the colour. All help greatly appreciated.

Dazza, from your replies, it seems that you have an affinity for crabs ah? You have moon crab and purple claw together!? Anything else? Hm.. Got pic of your tank??? Would like to see the lay out. Would like to keep crabs but they fierce lah. Will pinch tail and even eat fish.

neokn, I don't keep them anymore. My 1.5ft temp tank for stuff i catch from beach used to have about 5 max. They fight till left 1 and even the King lost a limb. csloo, Its their nature. They usually share their burrow with gobies. The gobies are their sentry. Seems that gobies have better eyesight. Dazza, I have never seen a black piston shimp b4. If i see any, I'll catch it to take photos. After my photo session, i'll pass to you loh. Thanks for the replies !

slcw, Snapping shrimp or piston shrimp also can lah. Its just common name for them. Pictured in original post is the Alpheus Synalpheus. I also have pics of the larger Alpheus Microrhynchus but they aren't as colourful. See for yourself. They have 1 bigger clicker claw that is flat.

Hermit crab without a shell ??? Ew, look so shy being ######.

Diff to meet cos i work during the day & study @ night. Nowadays, the beaches are crowded with pple trying to fish. Lots of uncle casting nets & setting traps too. The population of everything is on the decrease. Really can't stand those that use nets. Its illegal .... right ....

Dazza, i caught it at pasir ris. It can be found during the change of tides so no need to wait till dark. FuEl, Its eaten in other countries but not popular locally. Um, its not a mud crab. Those are black right !? I think their beautiful but they like to bury under sand. They get moody in my no-sand tank .... Dun eat fish pellet and dun really fancy brine shrimps. Anybody keeping them care to share some tips !?

The uca was released at the end of the day. I didn't keep it. Just caught it to take photos. Wao, so many experts here ! Thanks for the reply guys!

Baby moon crab. Maybe i caught it b'cos it can't see clearly with 1 eyestalk missing. Not easy to catch and difficult to raise in tank. They are 1 of the few swimming crabs. Can you see the spikes at the side of the shell !? Its gonna hurt ....

Catching them takes time and patience. Took me a while before i perfected my technique of catching them. Can't keep too many in a tank. Tend to fight each other.

Caught during low tide. Not as common as U. annulipes (common fiddlers). Female have claws of same size. Did not pinch other fishes.

Caught during my spare time. Very hardy and live in hollows of trees. Climb very well. Found along beaches and mangrove swamps.

Interested party can quote since i have no idea how much it cost. Come on, U know U need a hermit crab in your tank.

It is an Atergatis integerrimus (Red Egg Crab). Cannot eat. Cousin is poisonous. Beautiful & quite rare.
