  1. Insufficient ventilation, overheating, gas overcharged all causes the compressor to trip. All you need to do is to make sure chiller is well ventilated. ventilation not blocked.
  2. you can try using a PVC check valve, its a one way flow ball valve. you can get it at Hong Seng, Lavender street, opposite the S-11 coffee shop, behind lavender food court. Its a big PVC shop. but using the ball check valve will reduce the flow rate. Is your water back flow to your return pump causing overflow at your sump? You can solve this problem by adjusting the outlet pipe slightly higher (if its an elbow, try to adjust it slightly below water surface), so when the pump is switch off, not so much water will back flow down once air is vented into the return pipe. This is how I do it for my tank.
  3. The marine tank at 101D, 5th storey, can be viewed from the coffee shop across the road is a 6 by 2.5 by 2.5 tank custom build into the wall partition, the wall acts as a divider between the dinner hall and one of the bed rooms (but converted to study room). So the tank can be viewed from both sides. His tank drainage system for water change is laid beneath the floor tiles to his toilet. Very well designed and nicely setup tank. Tank glass thickness is 15mm. I heard from him that contractors go to his house to build the tank up. The tank owner is my secondary school classmate but too bad he doesn't come here.
  4. PM cookiemonster, he is selling.
  5. Hi all, Like to share what I have seen on different types of chiller available in the market. What are the factors affecting chiller efficiency. Ventilation - chiller must be well ventilated. Chiller heat exchanger - cannot be too small, if too small, how big your compressor is also no use. Compressor, condenser coil, condenser coil fan, filter drier and TEV, usually the air con company will recommend, so getting all this no problem. Its the heat exchanger that plays an important part to the chilling efficiency. Its better to have a bigger heat exchanger than a small one. The chiller pump - cannot be too slow or too fast, if your tank volume is 600 litres, 1000 litres per hour is sufficient already. If water flow rate is too fast, water is not even being chilled when going into chiller and got to make its way back to sump tank. Heat exchange of heat exchanger - The amount of time water stay in the heat exchanger for heat exchange also plays a part, water needs to travel across the cooling coil in the heat exchanger for maximum chilling before coming out from the outlet. Therefore, the inlet and outlet of heat exchanger should be situated at opposite ends to make sure water actually travels across the heat exchanger coil. Most of the chiller brands use this theory, excepts a few brands..... Insulation - Insulation of all chilled piping and heat exchanger, if chilled piping and heat exchanger not insulated, efficiency will drop, if temperature set too low, even condensation occurs. Conclusion, even if you have two different brand 0.5HP chiller, both will perform differently, depends on the above mentioned. 0.5HP chiller with good heat exchanger, ventilation and correct pump flow rate can chill down a 800 litres tank easily. Just wondering those who are using 1.25HP chiller to chill their giant tank, how big is actually the chiller? I have seen 1.25 chiller compressor, its very big in size, about the size of a single window unit air con or maybe bigger. I'm curious because so many uses 1.25 HP chiller, where do you guys place your chiller? Just wondering a single window unit air con can cool down a room, is it a must to use 1.25HP to chill down a 6ft or 7ft tank?
  6. All the chillers in the market uses the same basic principle of chiller system or even air con system onboard air craft carrier whether nuclear a not is the same, all you need is to understand the basic system. Onboard big ships, the air con system uses centralise cooling system, where freon gas is used to chill fresh water to as low as 8 degrees, in return this chill water is used as a chilling medium for AHU-Air Handling Unit to chill the air onboard big ships. Is there a difference to you? no mah, its only the compressor bigger, condenser bigger, piping bigger and longer. Unless someone invented a new system, differs from the basic principle and another company copies it, then its a clone The message I want to bring across is, the different brands in the market uses the same system, so no difference at all, their system is to chill, thats is all.
  7. Oh yeah Teco travel from the west (everything expensive, maybe branded name), Resun from the east (cheaper, labour cheaper, parts cheaper), local make brands trying to sell to earn a living. When opening up all brands chiller, even teco chiller looks the same from the inside with a malaysian make chiller. Compressor different brand also same lah, all compressor is to compress the freon gas only mah, if well maintain, all compressor can last. But of course becareful, if 1.1HP chiller, make sure is 1.1HP lah. Buy a 1.1HP chiller and ends up only a 1/3HP compressor only.....
  8. same like getting Teco for $2000++, other brand chiller cheaper price, why? That is business competition mah.
  9. Hey, have anyone seen the inside of the Pacific Coo and reef relief?? No, Yes? don't jump to conclusion its copy version leh (part copy Part). The casing same doesn't mean everything same inside hor. If you ask me, I'm so honored to have seen both from the outside and inside, don't ask me why. There are reasons why I choose and support the chiller I bought (Pacific Coo), maybe the chiller I promote got commission?!? (no personal attack, just a joke) Copyrights? Hahaha, isn't all chiller system the same (Teco, Hailee, resun Pacific Coo)? may have only slight difference to make it more efficient. Compressor --> Condenser --> Filter Dryer --> TEV --> Heat exchanger. Wondering what I study is it wrong a not, no leh, very simple system, why so many brands? I think maybe Teco copy resun, resun copy atman, atman copy Pacific Coo and Pacific Coo copy Reef relief Hahah what a joke...... Just my view. No offence.
  10. this is the best way, no chill water short circuit when cold water goes back into chiller. Also place chiller at the well ventilated area, best outside cabinate.
  11. Paci*** Aqua*** Cent** at pasir ris farmway2, L35, block D. You need to ask the shop owner for more details. I'm not so sure about the price for 1HP or 1.5HP.
  12. I'm using Pacific Coo, so far no problem, local support good too.
  13. One of my close relative past away, and during her 7 day, which we believed that she will be back for her last meal, we prepared lots of food, 4 rolls of numbers for 4D on 2 separate shoe box cover (slightly curve when you over turn it and 1 roll of number on each sides), cigarettes for bull head and horse face guardians, coffee and honey water for my relative. I personally prepared to fill up the rice box to max and flatten it, its our believed that when she is back, she would check the rice box to ensure that her decendants have enough food. During the night, all of us stay in the room. Can really see candles fickling with all windows closed. Can hear keys opening door, can hear relative making coffee sound (spoon stirring in glass cup). The next morning, we discovered the rice box, with a very deep hand print on it, I can't believed my eyes, I was the one preparing it, I even try my hand on it but can't fit. Char siew sauce on rice. coffee and honey water evaporate half a cup overnight. cigarette not touched. first roll of 4D number roll out in the centre of the shoe box cover (cannot happen by accident due to box cover curve). All guess what to combine with the first 4D number, all decided to combine with uncle's car, 3 digit car plate no. All who has taken good care of my decease relative won the 1st price in 4D. Those who are not, don't know how they bought the wrong number, hahaha.
  14. I went to stay at sentosa bunglow once (many many years back), one of my relative saw a headless soul, dress like those chinese maids (in the olden days).
  15. Well, what the h..., its the first fantasy novel right? let your imagination run wild lah. All thanks to tolkien, if not we would not have so much fantasy novels, games and movies.
  16. Hey you can read tolkien's mind, maybe........their idea of a year is only 4 months instead of 12? and that reduce to 1/3 of their age? hmm..........well, every new moon and full moon looks the same.
  17. If Aragon is of pure human race, why is elowyn (don't know correct a not) shocked to find out that aragon is 80 years old? If humans can live 200 years old, why bother about age difference? Think again. That is my perception about the movie I watch and understood and no where else. Anyway Tanzy you win, you can take over peter jackson position liao.... PS: Half-elf race in fantasy world are consider as out cast, not of pure breed. Always being look down.
  18. I have not read the book, from what I understand from the movie is that he is not of pure human race (maybe I played too many of those fantasy games), he is a mix race of human and elf, maybe its half-elf and half-elven race has an average life span of 190years (according to AD&D again).
  19. 50 should be their teenage or mature years, remember his uncle bilbo bagains celebrates his birthday in part one, he said he is already 115 years old. If not because of the rings that curses him, he would have grown old and die of old age. once after he left his ring to frodo, he started to age.
  20. According to the fantasy world, (AD&D) halfings another name for hobbits live slightly more than or the same as humans. Dwarfs live longer and elfs the longest, thats why they are so call immortals (but can still be killed). "going to the undying land" their immortal land.
  21. First thing that floodlight came to my mind are those search and rescue light onboard ships. I hope that is not what you mentioned, if it is, prepare to have cooked seafood for dinner even with chiller. (its burning hot, one cannot stay too near or under the light for long)
  22. Check lightings as well, most lightnings are not earth and somehow the lighting casing got wet and you got the shock. your breaker suppose to trip if there is a leakage current, if not means your breaker is not sensitive enough. Its best to find out which equipment is having leakage current and earth it.
  23. In my opinion is better than weipro, the plastic material is of better quality. Weipro collection cup need to be removed carefully as not to crack it. Macro skimmer need to adjust the height of water level in the skimmer and the correct amount of foam generation by using the correct pump size.
  24. Nay, just trying out how low can the chiller goes, I have tried as low as 18 degrees (can lower some more), but your tank walls starts sweating already. Hmm.....I think can chill beers or soft drink when your ice runs out during party.......hahaha.
