  1. Hi bro & sis out there, I have a few mushies which has fallen off from the colony of the rock. Recently, i have tried to reattach them to a coral chips using thread and somehow there is some intestine like things that came out of its mouth when it has been tied. Is this ok? or is it a sign of any problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards Agoyo
  2. Hi, thanks for the reply. Bro ambystoma82, This one from reborn, quite nice. The mushies are actually placed at that spot due to the low current there. Um...... the lighting should be enough. Hmm..... i have actually placed the detached mushies on a coral chip and tied it there. Will be taking it out within two weeks time. About the touching using hands, i used a tweezer in order to move the mushie around instead of using hands. ya, always, i supplement them with iodine twice a week to have better colour. Wah, flat worms? how to find them? i do not have any massive rotting or bleaching, how could there be flatworms? Hmmm.... another thing i wanted to ask is that wheter the detachment can be due to overcrowding of the rock of mushies? Keep the reply coming.
  3. So sorry, want to ask another thing, if the mushies detach, what it indicates? (overcrowding, death or anything else) Below is the picture of my mushies.
  4. Hi bro and sis out there, i have a rock of green mushies, it seems that the mushies are too dense then one of them actually drops off from the rock to the sand bed. This morning, i have reattached it to a coral chip with a cotton string, just for safety, so i want to ask wether it will be ok. If it is ok, how long should i wait for it to attach to the coral chip? During the periods when the mushie is reattaching, any precaution i should take to prevent anything from going wrong? (like what i should dose more or others) Rule out the possibility of it being nibbed by fishes as it is in the safety of a betta box. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hi, bro/sis, thanks for the reply, i am so sorry that i have not gone up here due to my courses that has started. Bro jem, thanks, ya it stays like that lights on and lights out. So i am actually confused to wheter the mushies are okay or are they multiplying or any other reason. However, some of them had actually went back to their original states, some have not. So, any other suggestion as to what is going on with the mushies folded state? By the way, can i ask anyone if they know what are those white intestine like things that sometimes came out of the mushies mouth? Once again, i appreciate the reply that the bro and sis here have given me. Keep the reply coming so that i and other reefers can have a better understanding of this problem and how to solve them.
  6. Hi all, thanks for the reply, Thanks bro wil_lee76, i will take note of what you said. Errr, bro, i just bought this a week ago or so, and i do not want to frag yet...... maybe wait till i have a dense population of the mushies then i frag one for you....... Hmmm.... yeah, it used to be bad. Well, then i change the air pump of my skimmer, after that i notice that the algae are dying off. So, now it is still in the process of dying. Doing more water changes with RO water for safety. Ok then, i will try to run the phrospate guard. Keep the reply coming if you think that my mushies have or do not have problems, please reply and help me explain why the problems occur. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  7. This is the picture, the circled part is the mushies that i referred to at the earlier post as folded. Any problems if they behave in that way? Any help will be greatly appreciated
  8. Hi bro and sis out there, i have taken the pic of the green mushies. From this picture, do you think that these mushies are OK? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hi bro and sis out there, i just bought one rock of green mushroom last weekend. After a week, i notice that some of the individual mushies started to fold. Most of those folded are to the center or slightly off the center. These folded mushrooms also have their white underside exposed but it still maintained the colour though. All the rest of the individual mushrooms are still good as when i bought it. I want to know if this is a sign of splitting or is it a problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hi, a little update..... good news, my anthias has been eating well today and they are also able to swim in the open already........ Hi bro angelfish...... i have tried giving them a mix of both brine and mysis shrimp but they prefer the brine shrimp more than the mysis. is there any possibilities of chopping the mysis shrimp to break the hard shell as bro shoelevy have said so that the anthias and other fishes will eat the mysis as well as the brine shrimp? bro angelfish, all the best with your anthias, keep us updated on your anthias...... It has been a lot of exellent and informative replies......... keep the replies coming , maybe we can learn new and better method to care for our prescious fishes....... Cheers
  11. Hi all bro and sis..... for all the exellent repiles, it has helped me get the anthias to eat..... now my anthias started eating , though they still eat and spat out their food......... and they are no more shy....... But tough the two anthias have started eating, my third anthias, and the biggest ones goes MIA then RIP , it has its bottom of mouth torn into two all the way to the gill when i took it out of my tank, i dunno what happened....... anyone has any idea? no such thing when got it from the LFS.... maybe already sick when bought from LFS....... hahah..... , bro angelfish, i do not think it is so bad...... last time yes..... it kept disturbing the anthias.... but ever since i rescape my tank, the angel is no more of a harm to the anthias...... maybe the angelfish is too territorial...... hmmmm..... bro shoelevy, i notice that too..... they eat the brine shrimp more than mysis........ yah maybe give both in mixture, then everyone have got the chance to eat, will that be ok? errrr...... pardon my shallow knowledge bro shoelevy....... but what is cyclopeeze? well once again..... thanks for the exellent reply.... keep the reply coming...... maybe can have more knowledge to rear my anthias and other fish better...... will keep you all updated once got any news about my anthias and other fish.....
  12. heheheh...... nice zoos bro Just me how much is the price of the zoo? where you normally buy? hmmmm.... ok then i will try to save up to buy the T5..... hehehe....... Is it enough to add in calcium and iodide for the softies to grow well and survive?
  13. hi all, for the reply and suggestions, i really appreciate them ...... bro Just me, i would like to know if T5 lighting will be enough to support the rearing of soft corals? if yes i will upgrade to that. hmmmm....... maybe bro Dazza is right, depends on luck, but i do not know mine..... maybe got to try first another queries is that what is the temperature required for softies to grow relatively well? without a chiller, is there any possibilities of rearing the softies? then, i would like to know a suggested list of soft corals that can be reared with the temperature between 28-30 deg celcius. and what is the required nutrition that they need? (eg iodide, calcium, etc.....) if possible, the price that they are normally sold at LFS......? dun want to get chopped......... Bro FuEl, do you use a chiller for the softies tank? keep the reply coming, in advance.....
  14. i am now using 2 white fluorescent light and one of them is 12000 kelvin light and the other one is just a normal marine aquarium light..... both rated at 18 watts. as well as one blue light, planning to upgrade to actinic when making the coral tank later...... any way to stop the bicolor angel from nibbing at the softies when i introduced them later?
  15. Hi bro and sis out there...... i am now having a FOWLR and planning to add in more corals especially soft corals in the future but very slowly (probably about a month or two from now....., so just want to ask in advance some queries.. any help will be greatly appreciated.... i am now planning to keep some soft corals like zoos and zooanthids as well as xenia.... i am just wondering wether i can keep soft corals at temperature between 28-30 degrees celcius? if yes which are the ones that i can keep? currently, i have few fishes in my tank 2 anthias 3 damsels 1 bicolor angelfish 1 purpleback dottyback if i were to add in soft corals, can i add them at the presence of these fishes? or anyone of them dangerous to the softies? any kind of nutrition that i need to add in in order to grow the softies quickly and healthily? (eg calcium, iodide, strontium etc) I feel like making a soft coral garden out of my tank.... in advance.......
  16. a little update.... my anthias did came out just now in the morning and only two of the three of them came out. anthias seem like finicky fishes, are they? i still have difficulty feeding the anthias even i offered them the mysis shrimp. they ran away as soon as i pour in the mysis shrimp or the brine shrimp. if they are not feeding.... is it a cause for concern? or can i just wait for a while (probably a week) to get them eating? if it is a cause of concern, what can i do to prevent any casualties of the anthias? (ie, feeding methods to follow) i am a little worried because they have not eaten anything since i bought them last weekend. please help me, any help will be greatly appreciated........
  17. ooops........ so sorry sis cityofangels..........
  18. ok, i will try to give a variety of both. bro cityofangels, will keep you all updated on my tank fishes.
  19. hi bro, Nice tank in the big house...... match the colour around and also nice rockwork.... good luck to you bro.... . keep the pic and update coming...... just a question, where did you get the three hang on lighting for your tank? Thinking of getting one for my tank as i wanna stock slowly on corals. Are they metal halide? .
  20. ooops...... very sorry, forget to ask sth else........ any bro/sis out there who knows wether anthias prefer mysis shrimp or brine shrimp? another query is that wether or not the anthias eat plankton (eg. zooplankton, pythoplankton)? i notice that all the fishes in my tank seems to open and close their mouth faster than normal when i put in zooplankton including the anthias. help will be greatly appreciated.
  21. Hi all, all for the reply. i greatly appreciate your help. i have noticed all the three anthias came out this afternoon after i came back from my 'O' level exam, but it ran away as soon i came near the tank. and only came out few times. most of the time just one or two of the antias came out. I have fed them the brine shrimp that i have. however, not all the three anthias eat the food that i gave them. only the smallest of the three ate. even though that is the case, the fish just ate and spat out the shrimp. i do not know if this is a good sign? the other two anthias seems uninterested in the food even if it hovers in front of them. well maybe got to wait some more , btw, any specific amount of time needed to get them out of their hiding? bro Maxstar81, ya, a little heavy, but, won't this be a little too much and will result in too much bioload in the display tank? thanks bro Maxstar81, ...... will post pic of the tank if got the chance. bro cityofangels, i see that the damsels is relatively peaceful now with the anthias but the damsel eat most of the anthias portion of food. so, my worry is that the anthias will not have a chance to eat the brine shrimp. i really thank all of you for the reply once again.... and i will keep you all updated on my anthias and other fish.........
  22. Hi bro and sis out there...... I have just bought 3 dispar anthias (redfin anthias) at the fish farm last sunday together with 3 damsels. then when i introduce it to my display tank then it kind of hide around and didn't come out. It was disturbed by other fishes, so i rearrange the rockwork so as to make more hiding place. Now the anthias is safe but it always hide and never come out at all. Heard that it should be out during daylight, but it only came out occasionally to look around. But this is a rare sight. It also missed the feeding time, after everyone have eaten, then the 3 anthias came out to look for food. By then it is too late. or even when they are out, they will not be eating. now i am worried for the health and nutrition of the anthias. How to get the anthias out of their hiding? Does it take time? If yes, how many days? Also, any suggestion on how to get them eating? Currently i have 3 damsels, 1 Bicolor angel and 3 anthias. Any bro and sis out there who is experienced, please help me....... any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  23. all for the reply. Bro akahosi, i would like to ask wether do you soak the food in normal garlic or mix it with garlic guard? I have tried to train my bicolour angel to eat the brine shrimp already for about a week, however, it kept foraging on the live rock instead of eating the food that i gave it. It does eat sometimes but it simply spit it out again. Do you have any method to get it eating? like putting the food everyday to tempt it etc, etc..... Any bro/sis out there who knows the method to feed the bicolour angel, please help..... Thanks in advance.
  24. Hi bro and sis out there, i have bought a bicolour angelfish last week and put it in my tank. But it does not eat anything but it kept foraging on the stone for foods. I tried giving brine shrimp but it does not eat and instead eat something from the live rock. It is quite a cause for concern . Anyone have any experience with them? Any feeding method to follow in order to get them eating the brine shrimp or other food? Thanks in advance.
  25. Erm, not really it is the bacteria for nitrogen cycle.
