  1. Erm, btw...did the shop say anything about replacing any LS or corals that turn up dead within a certain period of time? Using NSW is fine and there are many successful tanks running on NSW, read from a few threads that its better to buy the water and store it at least 24 hrs b4 use though. Shrugz, i've been using a saltmix all along, know nuts about NSW. I cant imagine having to carry around so much NSW in jellycans, i don't have a car.....
  2. Hiya Andy, i think you should ease up...you've made your point. Everyone has made some mistakes or done something a "responsible" reefer shouldn't have done at a point. Learning about mistakes and preventing them from happening again is more important isn't it? Jef, how big is ur nano? There are 2 different sizes if im not wrong. I guess reducing the number of LS to 8 would be a good start and you could monitor your water conditions from then on. Too many LS will degrade the water quality ensuring you a high nitrite level. If nitrate is still a problem for you after reducing your LS, maybe you should reduce it further or improve your setup. I presume you know you need to do some measurements on your water parameters right? Anyway, i might be not completely right too, just another newbie trying to share what limited experience i have. Read up more, the net is a good source of info. Happy reefing!
  3. Wow....nice tank! Pinkice, do you have any tips for keeping anthias? I got mine 2 weeks back and while they are not hiding as much anymore(spend most of the time out in the tank), didnt notice them feeding too, i've tried brine, mysis, live brine and pellets. Wondering if they are eating when i dun have my eye on them or are they wasting away? Its been 2 weeks and i would love to see them feed.....
  4. Hiya shoelevy, Points noted but my cleaner has been doing extremely well, feeding on virtually anything from pellets to mysis and brine. But will take note on their poor survivability and see if my does well. Hrmz, which are the jewel corals you are referring to? As for the yellow clown goby, have already netted it and placed it in a betta box. Will prob put it up for adoption soon. Thanks for all the advice! RedDevils, thanks for passing by!
  5. Pink! Looks cute, i had a green 1 exactly like that neeted out from my main tank. Guess its best not to take chances ba....
  6. Ah well, my 1st 1 ft tank was bought on impluse too. Had 2 medium size clowns, 1 damsel and 1 anemone in a 1 FT! Great advice by the LFS huh? ZzzZZz. Sheesh, didnt know what i was thinking then, and well, i didnt do any research on the net too. And guess what, all LF wiped out the next day. Well, i guess a lot of people get "conned" or rather misled by some "not so good" LFS who'll just about do anything to clinch a deal. They even tried to sell me a bicolour dottyback for $65!!! Like hondaker said maybe you should try reduce your bioload abit and just keep what u really like and dun worry, i learnt through the hard way too.... Cheers and happy reefing! Just ask if you have any questions and im sure there'll be lots of experience reefers who'll help. Have fun! Oh, still looking fwd to seeing a pic.
  7. Ermz yupz, its advisble to add LRs all at a shot. Adding new LRs, whether cured or uncured will most of the time cause a mini cycle, destabilising ur tank parameters. Coralline algae are those purple/red ones, i think.
  8. Nice couple! My 2 1st tubeworm....or are they called featherworms....whatever!!
  9. My newly opened bubble....was so stressed up yesterday when i adjusted it....
  10. Long Nose Hawk....small fella with a HUGE appetite!!!!
  11. Cute little fella....another of my wife's fav
  12. Nice hermit! Hrmz, do they topple your stuff over or trample over your corals? Heard that the electirc hermit will grow to quite big....
  13. Nice suns, are sun corals hard to keep? What kind of lighting do they require and is target feeding a must? I love the deep orange colour but afraid that they wun survive in my tank.
  14. Thanks for your compliment dkk08, im sure with abit of patience and imagination, everyone can has a nice rockscape. One thing that i wished i had done was to create more "caves" for the fishes to swim through. Copperband, icic....will go try and get some info about this remora skimmer. Maybe i should upgrade to a bigger Prizm.....shRugz. Anyway, thansk for all the comments people! I love this hobby!!!
