This brings me to a next qn.... it looks possible that Rowaphos and other po4 removal medias are removing SRP and not that much of organic phosphates. Coz if it does we should probably get zero algae and none of us will ever keep the chaeto alive with Rowaphos FR running together.
Correct or not?

In that case, better to pay marginally more for LIFE.
Just checked Fairprice this morn... Fairprice is $5.20 and LIFE is $5.50 per carton of 12 bottles. Pity that NTUC charge $7 for delivery for above $60..... (unlike Carrefour) which is free for > $150.

I was considering an acrylic tank before settling on glass tank. The deciding factor for me to go glass is that acrylic is prone to scratches. Would be ok with acrylic if I am a careful person ... or I have no kids at home.

I suppose possible.... you use an effective ATS or a massive refugium + very good mechanical filtration.

Ok, after trying out the arti rock from GO, I can appreciate what Cedric is telling us in the previous post.
The rock is like a water bottle. Its hollow inside.
There are about 6 or 7 small holes on that smallish piece of rock that I bought.... and I seriously doubt that the water within the rock can ever be circulated. Which means it is a stale area for nutrients to propagate.
Now my headache is , what am I to do with my artificial rock now!

Looks like I will skip on buying the F R since I already have a refugium. Maybe revisit using bio pellets and rowaphos in an F R if I can't hold the nitrate and po4 low enough.
Or, maybe I could get a F R but under-dose with biopellets so that my chaeto survives and get a zero nitrate environment?
Does that sound unwise?

Anyone here uses biopellets and/or PO4 FR together with a refugium of chaetos / macro algae.
If I have the FRs, would it mean that its very likely that my chaetos / macroalgaes will not grow (and die off)?

I bought small piece from GO to try earlier today.
They only sell those hollow artificial rocks.
Cedric, where to buy those solid ones that you mentioned?
They have those rocks shaped like a pizza. Size of a medium pizza. Flat with holes big enough for frag plugs to go in.
Ahh... how nice it will be if I plug them with nice zoas and it grows into a garden.

Tank Migration : Qn on Cycling
Ihave an elementary question.
I already have an existing 2 feet tank with me >1 year. Am upgrading to a 3 footer.
Its will be a straight migration (from old to new tank) on Day One upon delivery of new tank.

For my new tank
--> I will use NSW + mixing in a little of my current tank water
--> I will be moving my old rocks into the new tank
--> will seed the new sand with some sand from my old tank.
Question: Is my new tank then, considered semi-cycled? Since except for the glass tank, everything in there is "seasoned"?
Is it safe to add in zoas after 1 week of the new tank (provided the parameters are alright)? Or must I cycle the tank as thought its a brand new set up (with market prawn and let the ammonia spike and turn to nitrate etc)?
Another issue is that I have 4 "hardy" fishes (3 damsel + 1 cardinal) to migrate too... wondering if I should just sell them away instead of putting these 4 fishes through the stress of a cycling in new tank.

I just confirmed that my refugium height is 14 ".
Minus 2 " for sand bed... will be left with 12 inches .
Still ok to keep SH ?
small ones should be ok ya?

Will only go for captives. Prefer those feeding on frozen food. I do not ve patience to feed them live food forever.

Will only dare stock the refugium w seahorse after the whole tank is well and stable...
BTW, where to find good supply of SH?
Iwarna has some (I think endangered) yellow species in their special corner (restricted from outsiders).
I think captive bred. They are not feeding any frozen food at the moment, only taking in live foods for now. Looks beautiful... a bit like plastic toys.
