  14. Hi all, Anyone serving NS? Rgds, Drew
  15. Hi, My mistake. I meant Inches. 2in and 3in deep in certain areas. I beg your pardon.
  16. Hi, thinking of getting the above named inverts to stir the sandbed in my tank. Sand depth averages to about 2ft, and 3ft deep at certain areas. Tonga branches already anchored deep into the sandbed. Any advice?
  17. Hi, Just placed 5 Astrea snails in my tank last weekend. Now left with 2. Water parameters seem to be alright. Currently I check for pH and KH only, and the tank is minimally stocked. I don't think NH3/NH4 is a problem, as my 2 clowns, and coral frags (2 suns and 1 zoo) are doing fine. All were active for the first days, slowly one at a time, the snails retreated into the shell. Tank has a 2ft deep sand bed. What can be the cause? Pls advice, thanks.
  18. Did some research. Seems like cyanoacrylate glues are the safest to work with for soft corals. Also, more often than so, direct application of epoxy to soft corals may inevitably lead the tissue damage and rot. But use of these glues are limited to soft corals, or small coral frags which offer a rough surface. 'Hyperlinked' below are the articles which I've found useful. Securing Propergated Corals Cyanoacrylate Rgds, Drew
  19. Hi, The frag isn't attach to a rock. It's soft tissue. Also, if I intend to mount it, I've to clear tha area of all algae first? Thanks, Drew
  20. Hi, Just recieved a small Zoo frag. Found a good place in the tank to place it, but it keeps dropping off. I intend to, how would you say, "mount it"? I've read previous post of fellow forum users recommending Loctite Gel Super Glue. Isn't it toxic to fish? Can it be applied submerged? Or apply first and fix instantly in the tank (read from other post that it cures instantly)? There's also a slight (or higher chance?) that coral tissue may incure damage from super glue. Is that statement true? Been contemplating either Super glue or epoxy. Am worried about toxicity. Please advice. Thanks, Drew
  21. Hi, I got some Astrea Snails. They were doing fine for the past few days. Recently, some don't seem to be 'alive'. They retract into their shells, to the extent which their bodies can't be seen. I'm sure it's not a healthy sign. I have a sand bed in my tank, I doubt it affects the snails. Any advice? Thanks, Drew
  22. Hi, Just noticed that my false clown has ich. Are there any medication that are reef safe as well as invert save? Is the treatment same as freshwater fishes? Isolate the fish in a quarrantine tank and treat it seperately? I know of others who just adminster the medication into their tanks. Is that advisable? I'm a noob, just converted from freshwater. It's probably due to stress. I have a blue, yellowed tailed damsel which is very territorial. It keeps nipping at the clown. Have been trying get it out from the tank for quite a few days. I'm looking for a fish trap, is there any LFS that sells it, c328? Thanks, Drew
  23. Hi all, Just started this hobby. I have a 2Ft tank currently with a few pieces of live rocks and a cup coral. Sand bed of about 2In. With a Marble starfish (did I get the name right). As for my sump, it's not stock with any live stock yet. Basically it's just a 1.5ft by 1ft tank, with 4In of sand. Water flows through an overflow box from the main tank to sump, into external canister filter and back into main tank. Maintaining slow flowrate, max 400l/h. Will eventually do Zoos and Inverterbrates, with a pair of clowns and anaemone. My main concern now is power cut-off. If it happens a vaccum would be created by the cannister filter and back flow would eventually flood the sump tank. I am thinking of using an auto-top up mechanism/sensor with a seperate return pump, instead of relying on my canister filter. Has anyone tried doing a DIY version on a 'tubby top up'? Being new to this hobby (I started with freshwater planted tanks), are there any important test kits and addictives that would be good to have around? Any mineral removal media that I should try? I thought Kh and Ph are the most important factors right now hence got these test kits. Please advice. Thanks, Drew
