  1. My marginalis butterflyfish.

i used to have one v long ago but it died. that was the first marginalis that ever came to singapore. the pioneer batch.

this one came from coral farm. the 2nd batch and now is fairly common from australia shipments.

it was not feeding enough initially and was on the verge of death. but now it is slowly gaining weight and is healthier and very greedy!

Bro, don't think its the pioneer batch cos a few other lfs brought marginalis in few years back just that one bring them in recently. There was a lfs that sell both lie seafood and livestock at Payar lebar area sometime back, they brought marginalis in.

  2. Dear all

Am kinda out of touch with the current market now, not sure if red carpet are more common now. But this is an established one @ 2 years old(think theres not many 2 years pls red carpet owner out there) and those with red carpet experience know how difficult is it to keep a red carpet alive even for a short period of time. Most just arrive in poor condition with mouth open and melted after a short period of time.

Anyway, those interested can pm / sms me but I will close this thread after awhile should there be no interested buyers as I may want to keep it :)

  3. As per topic, selling of my 2 years+ old pink/red carpet anemone. Decide to let it go as it was getting a little too big for my tank. Buyer should preferbly have a established tank of minimun 4 feet as it will be bigger than palm size(including fingers) when expanded. Intested pls contact me at 9139 1438 and self collect at Potong Pasir. Please note that a red carpet ridiculously rare and is toughest of the carpet family to keep alive. Looking @ about $250

Pic is when I just bought it 2 years back

  4. Came in before from Reborn & Irene shipment. Think vaguely remember seeing it in Iwarna before. Tried keeping before but all went M.I.A. A very very timid fish from what I remember. And they have quite a shocking bite for their size.

Yep, used to have a pair of this but they are very very shy. I thought they went MIA after a while but after I tore down the tank, I found out that they are alive and kicking. Elusive fishes

  5. ahhh.

my male is also courting the female now every night. trying to spawn and they did it once or twice but now practising.

when my rusty flame come i dunno how.. the male is v aggressive.

My flame will enter into their courtship mood first but their time is very short as the coutship will surely be interrupted by my jocs who will then go into their courtship next.

  6. v nice!

what happen to ur flame harem?

Thanks bro... flame harem was reduce to a mini harem of 1 male and 2 female and has been like this for a very long time. Now every night, the male takes turn to have his courtship dance with the females

  7. Neglected my tank due to new job and was having massive flatworm problem for quite sometime. Decide to do something about the flatworm problem thus I went to AM to geta bottle of FWE. This thing is really good if administer properly, now tank is completely flatworm free after 3 dosage.

These are some random shots of my tank taken 2 weeks back after the flatworm saga.

  8. today i just casually walk through. so did not notice much of the rare stuff.

today i saw C. mesoleucos, C. larvatus from red sea. this 2 red sea fishes are unobtainable in Singapore at the moment. i want the mesoleucos ALOT but i'm really v worried they won't last till sat. i wont bargain coz the price is v reasonable. around $38 SGD.

also saw koran and maculosus hybrid, conspic angel, and bodianus speciosus. all these are v v vv vv rare in sg. esp the koran hybrid.

i want to see a mitratus butterfly and buy back. many reefers encounter mitratus in HK before and it's a common fish there.

    gf?

you mean good food? plenty in HK.

Go find this store call HONG YUN something one. Somewhere near DunDee Street if I am not wrong. Good DIM SUM.

  9. that's not good then.

there was only about 10 + mesoleucos butterflies and only one LFS had it.

i have to wait thursday, friday, then sat afternoon then can buy.

if all gone by then, then no fate lor. too bad.

that LFS doesn't accept reservations even after i said i'll pay in full first. so i'll just test my luck.

Normal, the lfs in HK usually does not accept reservation even with full payment. Don't bother to bargain with them on the prices as their prices are pretty much firmed as well.

Lemon, try to see what rare fish you can find on this trip. Both my trips are pretty fruitful.

1st trip I saw: Interruptus angel, small blue lines, flame wrasse(they are rare in singapore few years back), peppermint hog(they are pretty rare last time as well), crosshatch trigger

2nd trip I saw: Psedanthias ventralis hawaiiensis, mitratus butterfly, small bandits, tinkerii, small conspics

  10. this group of butterflies, the roaps, which include declivis, tinkeri, burgess, mitratus and flavocoronatus are quite safe. i have a declivis in my tank with all kinds of corals and it doesnt eat them. keep them well fed.

but this group is not 100% reef safe. i would rate them about 50%. so buy them at your own risk.

the prognathodes marcellae from africa is more safe. about 80-90% reef safe.

As with what Lemon has say, the ROAPS are quite safe with corals. They live deep where there are not much corals growing so they are pretty much planktivore. Treat them as how you treat dwarf angel.

I would risk anything for a pair of ROAPS. :P:P

  11. ok i know where.

i was at the smelly beancurd stall. it's at the end.

how long do fishes take to be sold out at HK!?

there are tons of ppl here and i scared all the mesoleucos will be gone by this sat afternoon.

For angels and tangs, FAST! For smaller fishes, AGES! LOL

Previously, I was searching high and low for small 3inches plus blue line angel but could not find any in Singapore. But when i went to HK, I found tons of them, almost every shop has about 20- 30 pieces but guess what? All where gone within 3-4days. Wanted to guy them on the last day of my trip but could not find any. <_<<_<
