it is only a small community.. and yet something like that can happen. no sides here, but for someone joined only 10-October 07 can create such a ripple effect is amazing. i hope the truth can be out soon, be it good or bad.. just that such popcorns can be difficult to swallow. it is sad that people around this tiny community can create so much splashes, just hope that we can all live and support this reefing hobby in peace... nothing to hide here, if whoever is not happy with one another, talk it out in person and don't be a masked hero. jasment

bro, something is very wrong if you are using NSW but the water has a KH of 17. are you dosing anything correctly, or did you check the KH for NSW. KH at 17 will burn your sps but i suppose for LPS they will open up very nicely cos they prefer higher KH, but not sure whether at 17 or not.. check carefully and lower them slowly to about ideally 8-12. my 3 cents

actually it will be good for a reef tank or fish only tank to be in the region of 1.025-1.027... though fishes actually survive better in lower salinity levels cause they will need less energy to clean their kidneys off the salt. please dun ask me to show articles, i remembered read it somewhere and this is believe it or not.. anyway, for a much different salinity, bro colin is correct to say that there must be proper acclimatising period for this change.. and bro chaniz, 1.020 is a little low, and if you insist on that, please acclimatise the ls properly over a period of days and not hours,, bro vandeam, yours a little high leh.. waste salt la... 26-27 will be good...

actually, a little nitrate is good for sps.. probably just like 3ppm or below...

we were very late but still manage to have a ruby, pillai and a new scott's fairy.. cos the old piece is being trapped in auntie's sps tank while being in storage so we took a new piece... together with the old lobutei (dunno how to spell) they are all swimming around trying to eat already... heng ah... so much invested on the wrasses.. anyway, sorry to hear about your hogfish, but you can actually buy a fine plastic mesh to wrap up your overflow pipe, to avoid future re-occurance but must clean monthly.. i had a wrasse down in the overflow part for about 2 weeks, cannot catch or reach it until one day it decides to go for wet and wild through the pipe.. didn't die and i took it from the sponge area back to tank.. lol..
