  1. thanks all.... I got the skimmer today, dropped it in the tank with the air pump I had around. Seems to work, lots of bubbles at the top, but no foam flowing into the cup. The cup is just above the water level. So, is my pump no good, or my water too clean?
  2. Ive got an air pump lying around somewhere, so save even more! I'll pick one up next time Im over lavender way Must be worth a try while saving!
  3. dleecool, thanks for the reply. Im just starting out, few issues with some corals I bought over the weekend, and in the process of trying to revive them found a real cheep skimmer. I have sand, live rock, 2 very small fish and 3 coral. If all goes well, will increase the coral a little, and add 2-3 more fish (not at once though!) So I guess, a bit of everything Was looking for some advice from the experts here. I guess I should get a skimmer, but was really wondering if a 10 bucks one would actually do a good job for my tank or if I should save up and get one of the more expensive ones. I guess from Tanga's reply I should look at a skimmer, and a good one at that. So I guess I should use one, would a cheep one be better than no skimmer until I can save a bit of cash to get one of the more expensive ones?
  4. Quick question Do I really need a skimmer for such a small tank (only 15g)? It has a pump and filter, and the water movement seems to be good with the extra power head in there... If so, spotted some cheap air powered ones (whatever is the proper name for them?) like 10 bucks... Would one of them do? (PS sorry for the post in the wrong forum earlier )
  5. Thanks for the advice guys, appreciate it muchly! WIll check out the farmway 2 place this weekend, but looks a long walk from the bus stop! I'll try to stop by reborn this afternoon, lucky me got a meeting in town so can pop by there after
  6. OK I know petmart is in serangoon north, but where is reborn? Cant find the address (only looked quick its late and Im tired, bed soon)
  7. Thanks I'll look them up and pay them a visit this weekend. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll report back on how they are doing.
  8. thanks where is a reliable place to buy, had some bad experiences with some of the shops around.
  9. only small, 2ft by 1ft by abt 18 inches. holds abt 15gallons.
  10. Thanks all. dnutz : Yup check it regularly, last check all were well within the clear. I'll check again tomorrow and see if anythign has changed. Hope not! Tank was cycling just over 6 weeks before adding corals. Thanks Terryz, colinsoon, I'll be patient and wait for them to settle. I'll give them a few more days before I panic Can someone recommend a good (for a small tank like mine) wave maker, and where to get it from... Im in the east, so somewhere this side would be good! I'll try to pick one up this weekend. Oh an whats the going price for one?
  11. I had a feeling they were difficult to keep. The pink one seems to be doing well. But the other one, the purple one seems to be dieing. Would love to try to keep them alive, if someone can tell me what I should be doing. Ive had them both since the weekend. So not long.
  12. to be honest I dont know what any of the corals are, the first one is supposed to be a leather one, but I really dont know... Sorry the pics are so bad, not got used to the camera yet The tank is 24 inches length, 18 inches high (water to abt 14 inches) width 12 inches Lighting, ummm not too sure, the shop I got the tank from said it was "perfect" for marine. No skimmer or chiller, but some fancy fan that actually drops the water temp to abt 26-27 c
  13. Oh and Ive just realised, I cant take good photos so anyone with tips for that as well
  14. this one I think will be a problem to look after, but looks very pretty, GF loves it
  15. second pic - the one I think is dieing
