  4. Just read in one of the scientific website that mentioned that normal glass actually absorbs UV but did not mentioned if its UVA, UVB or UVC.... more confused.... one of sun-caused UV is effectively blocked by ozone layer but how about those created by MH lights....????
  5. Thank God the fragments all flew in the "right" direction....
  6. Was there today at 4 pm. LCK 201 has lots!!!!! Green, blue, purple... I think other LFS alos buying from them... they were paking fifty in a few bags for delivery.. But very little fishes and only selected mushies and LPS. Did not see "hums" at LCK110 today... very few fishes but a lot of the usua LPS.
  7. Glad to have a carpenter as a friend........
  8. Saw another one at LCK110 today as well. Its on the big tank on the left as you walk in.... unique indeed... more "clowny" as it needs to wriggle more to balance itself...
  9. Still cannot forget my FW days u see..... : ) Actually.. its food for my ROCK FISH.....
  10. With MH. But this photo does not truley reflect the intensity of the MH as my camera was set to auto adjust mode. If both were on manual mode, the difference would have been obvious.. i think... For the last 6 hours, the temp is still as per T5 - 28 degrees... hope this keeps up...
  11. Pic with old T5 = 3 x Aquablue + 1 x Actinic Blue
  12. Just installed my BLV DE 150W 10K MH and though advised that its UV safe.... but my light-sensitive glasses turn super dark under this light....... this only happens when I am outside on a clear sky and noon time..... tried to shine a strong bulb and also a bright LED white light onto my glasses but nothing happens.. just under the MH it happens...... very worried about the damage to one's eyes.... Bought my set from Victron.... those who did... are u assured its safe?
  13. Thanks, auto water top up has been in operation the last many months.... can't do with it...
  14. Not so lah... the plank is only around 1 feet wide while the width of tank is 2.5 feet. Enough for air ventilation.. plus 2 PC fans blowing across the water surface some more...
  15. I have a yellow, purple, sailfin and blue tank in a 2.5 x 2 x 2 tank.... not easy to get them settled in together though..... Two ways - 1. Put yr yellow tank in a transparent plastic floating tank and leave the whole thing inside the main tank. The idea is to let the purple tang get used to the YT. You need to leave it there at least a week. It worked for me. 2. Heard this - put a few mirrors facing the main tank and let your purple tang "fight" them (actually looking at itself). Adding the YT should be ok as the PT will be distracted by "other" PTs in the tank. May work as it sounds logical..... 3. Last resort - sell of yr current PT and add a new PT and YT at the same time.... they might fight for a while but will not be fatal. Did this before. Good luck.... Oh yes, it seems that my 4 tangs have stopped growing bigger for a while already. Could be due to the limited space and they adjusted to it according. Maybe now they are only growing sideways....
  16. Hi guys My buddy asked his carpenter brother for help and this is the end result... small pic as it was sent via MMS. Yeah!!! Will decide later to add fan or not or just drill air vents.... depends on laziness level...
  17. For info, saw the Atman on sale at Yishun Central (FW & SW LFS) at S$100.00. You must really have a big sump tank to house this...
  18. Thanks for the ideas and offers to help out. Still cranking te brain juice. Got a friend who happen to have two brothers - one is a carpenter and the other owns a precision metal enginnering company.... also trying to see if they can help......
  19. As attached or just hang the box... still thinking about it. May also source for aluminium FL casing to try to squeeze the fixture in.... but the casing will need to have enough depth and some parts need to be removed as well.
  20. Went down to Victron today and bought a 150W DE MH set from them. S$156 nett with a 10K BLV Bulb. Was told by the boss that BLV rep told him that as this bulb is specially for marine tank, its UV-protected though its DE type. Anyone able to verify this? Will also be trying to reach BLV Germany meanwhile but its the holiday season, not sure if I can get them... Don't want to risk meanwhile..... Anyway, PIC below:
  21. Get a small stringe with a tiny needle and inject concentrate Kalk solution into it... but must be fast as they shrink into a ball really fast.. cruel but it works......
  22. Anyone on standby this week.... then we are in the same unit... Possible recall today at 2 pm........ inside news.......
