  1. i must say.. this tang is nuts.. hahaha.. but it is indeed an interesting sight to behold if that tang is in our tank.. will be a real conversational piece... anybody tried to train their tangs to do that?? i think i go back and try.. hahhaa
  2. but i find some of those live fish bait is abit too big leh..
  3. so much work ah, bran.. slave to the tank leh.. hehee.. btw, does having more fans help??
  4. fred.. with all the bombing.. i dun think anywhere is safe.. for instance, just when i abt leave for aus, shooting comes along.. nowadays, i think for me, the only safe place is my bed and inside AT's tank.. (one of the few that can snorkel, "dive" and dun have to worry abt jelly fishes stings, shark attack etc..) come back one piece.. ok... oh yes.. do look for bikini-clad babes there.. should have plentiful... u dun have worries like most of us mah.. btw, bring back only memories and leave only footprints ok?? enjoy your trip..
  5. what do u feed them with?? i used to have a koran (my parents got it for me and i have corals inside.. sigh... ).. and it eats lettuce.. but not tetra bits..
  6. hahaha.. no lah... me is a poor student.. me used MH when i first started out marine keeping.. know nuts abt it.. see ppl use, i also get and use.. dun know much.. hahaha.. the LH was my friend's.. he sick of keeping it.. and asked me to pop over his place to have it for lunch.. and i had the honour of ending its 'misery'.. .. hope there are no LH keepers here.. or i will get the flak next time i visit the LFS.. especially when i posted my pic in this forum.. sigh.. now i regret it.. <_< .. i mean putting up my pic.. but definitely not eating the fish.. hated those; as what my friend called it; "ah beng fish" with no ancestor roots.. basically it is a "ziap zeng" breed.. i think the fish also dun know where it come from... <_< bran, i dun notice that leh.. coz my mom cooked with them oyster sauce and sour plum... very nice.. hehehe.. taste of sour plum and oyster sauce.. no mud taste.. btw, i heard from my friend that in balestier, u can eat stonefish and LH.. and the stonefish's bones are luminious in color... anybody tried that??? me hesitate in trying out that leh.. coz i was in reborn quite some time back and saw the stone fish.. and have some micro organisms moving on it body and face.. gross.. thinking of eating that.. yucks..
  7. well.. i dun go fishing very often.. anyway.. i stop doing that (lionfish jumped out of the tank.. committed suicide!!!).. i know it is a bit cruel.. but i also would like to let them eat natural SW fishes... and they are the cheapest.. but still, i cannot tahan the cost.. thus the converted fishes.. anyway.. since then, i stop keeping such fishes.. they refused to eat peeled prawns mah.. bo pian.. sigh..
  8. personally, i dun use any form of bottled bacteria to kick start my system.. i dun believe that they work.. firstly, when sealed, where does the bacteria gets their oxygen and food from? i used the natural method of cycling my tank.. using converted mollies and used filter media from my old tank.... the process is shorten as a result of this.. if i start from scratch, it will take me abt 28 days to 6 weeks to get it cycled.. from what i know, there is not known standard formula to calculate the cycling period according to tank size..
  9. i really dun know what LH can do.. they dun taste good when fried.. yucks.. i tried it and it has that muddy taste.. yucks.. thinking of it.. makes me wanna puke..
  10. i had that in my old 3ft tank at my old place.. but i only keep fishes then... so, no worries..
  11. well, i used to get baby clownfishes from pac marine.. and feed them but i cannot tahan the cost.. very costly.. thus the longkang fishes..
  12. ok.. will do.. phang.. if your tank is not ready.. can u hold the fish for me till i'm back from aussie???
  13. hahah.. indestructable damsel.. hahaha.. is it that big black monster???
  14. Cedric.. u'r the man.. when i first heard that u DIY this and that.. i knew u might have come out with something like that.. hahaha.. now u know why i seek your help??? hahaha..
  15. well.. when i had my lionfish, i usually conditioned the guppies and mollies inside the sump (with a breeder net) and convert them into SW fishes b4 i dump them into the tank.. usually abt 1-2 days if i'm not wrong.. after that, can already.. and i dun feed a lot..
  16. thanks phang.. where u stay? can i collect it after my exams on the 1st Nov? relax on the moray.. hahaha.. it is only max 6-7 inch.. and the mouth is very small.. take your time.. it is yours....
  17. tried pac marine or reefworld? actually, to start cycling, u can use a fish or like what AT does, a stinking sotong to kick off his cycling of the tank.. not necessary LR.. honestly speaking, i had bad experience cycling with LR.. coz my system crashed within the first 2 days or so.. since then, i use mollies.. hehehe.. and they are still inside my tank..
  18. sulphur-x, all u need is just a float switch.. and a pump and a small tank.. morgan, 500 USgal, how big is your tank? anyway, IMO, i really hesitate on NSW... with all the unknown stuff inside.. unfiltered somemore.. how u use it.. just dump the water straight in?
  19. and not the forumer Live Rock.. hahaha
  20. u need something to start cycling your tank...
  21. AT.. not everyone have a quarantine tank.. let alone a hospital tank.. <_
  22. it could also be due to u overcrowding the tank? my blue tang was down with ick and spread to my purple tang.. but a cleaner shrimp and garlic food does the trick..
  23. morgan, care to elaborate how u can save $$ as compared with your last use of salt mix?
  24. yeah fred.. my yellow wrasse swam straight into my lionfish den and got 'vacuum' in.... and i saw the stomach swell with the yellow wrasse's body inside.. from then onwards, no more lionfish for me..
  25. hi, just want to hear from u guys, when u guys change water, (pls indicate the tank size) do u use the following methods and it does not include those chaps who buys solely NSW to do top up or change 1. using DI water with salt 2. RO water with salt 3. Tap water with salt 4. frequency of change? i use method 3 coz i find it more convenient than having to heave buckets of 'mixed water(either RO or DI)" and emptying them into my sump.. i simply pour salt into the sump and water from tap.. mix.. and switch on the pump.. hehehe.. with no corals inside, i can afford to change my water every 6 months to 1 yr...but i conduct water parameters check for my 4 ft tank every 2 weeks. ok.. above methods are not avocated but it sure helps to cut down time from 1 hour to 20 mins when replacing water.. and i get backaches each time i do that...
