  1. Hi guys instead of a electronic one, why not get a crude mechanical one? Have not tried it myself, putting my idea up to be scrutinise for all But i guess might need a sump for that. I presume that when water level falls in the main tank, the sump water level will fall right? Have you guys seen those water dispensers for doggies? they look like the water dispensers in the office just that it has a tray that serves the water. When my dog drinks from it, the water level drops to a certain point and water from the dispenser oozes out to maintain the amount of water in the tray. I was thinking to drill the tray will lotsa holes to allow water in and out freely and place the dispenser (supported by a rack to acquire the desired 'top up' level) in the sump. So that when water level falls below the threshold, FW is being added to the desired level. What you guys think? naive? i havent tried it anyway
  2. Achilles, I did saw the power factor equipment selling at carrefour. The salesman showed me a bill of a customer which used to be $140, and after using it, it came down to ard $110 on the average. The equipment doesnt draw any power and all you need to do is to plug it into any socket in your house and its working~!. Its selling at $169. Good investment in the long run.
  3. Where is the shop? I might need to make a water collection point slightly above tank, and a crude water top up box. How is the pricing like?
  4. All is calm for now, I think the hermit attacked the snail coz it wants to change its shell.... My eventual setup (i hope) is a reef tank. My tank is 15 galloon. depth of tank is only 30cm. Fan cooled at 27~28 degree C. 5kg live rocks, 2.5 inch of coral chips as sand bed 1 15w 6500k FL 1 15w actinic. Currently I already have a blue damsel (yellow tail = male), 4 astrea snails and 3 hermit in it already. How much more bioload can i add?? I want to at least add another clown and a skunk shrimp (not fierce right). Does that mean i can add lesser soft corals? Is there a limit to the number of corals i can add?? Whats the gauge? My lighting wise cannot support Hard ones right? Thanks guys~!
  5. Mine is bought at hong leong 3 for $20~!! I got my dad to buy it... whats the normal price? I think its the same one that you've saw, when i switch off my white light, leaving the blue light only the damn dark red is black~... The shell is purple in colour right? The murderer hermit is head over heels over yet another snail.. clinging onto it trying every possible way to pry it away from the glass~! Achilles, its possible for me to keep a tang in my 2x1x1 tank meh? I like to have a yellow tang very much... but I've read that its not really recommended What do you think? What are some recommended beautiful cleaner shrimps besides those red stripes running along the body kind?
  6. Hi all, I've finished cycling my 2 ft tank and now is trying to intro some cleaning crew into my tank cause there seems to quite some diatom around. I've just bought astrea snails and hermit crabs (dark red with orange joints). Anyone know what name it is and is it reef safe??? Anyway the moment i left the tank for awhile and when i come back, one of the hermit had killed a snail and take over its home~!!! Will all my snails get eaten my those crabs eventually?? What other compatible cleaners can i add?? Shrimps too~~ Thank you guys~!
  7. I'm gonna try it after my exams a month later~!!
  8. Yup I've noticed that too... but guess gonna get a pump to take water to a higher collection point and from there to the sump instead of drilling my tiny tank. This way, whenever electricity is cut off, no water goes into and out of the tank.... Any comments??? Seems viable to me but the balancing of flow rate might be a tough part....
  9. It looks rather nice to me.... What are the lightings that you are using? No skimmers and filters?
  10. Boohoo... doesnt work??? why so? Issit that the inflow and outflow will be difficult to balance?
  11. I'm also in the same situation as you, man~! 2ft tank/15gal of water only....However, I've spend more coz i dun even have a freshwater tank to startup with But i do notice one major disadvantage of our nano tank let alone controlling water parameters.... unsightly equipment all over the tank.... imagine a protein skimmer, a power head, the dc fans and the lights~!! I havent even got the filter yet~!! Really a mess man.... After my exams, I'm gonna have another 2ft tank to act as a sump below this current one to (i) double the water volume (ii) Act as filter (mechanical, biological) (iii) place all the unsightly equipment esp protein skimmer in it. However, I'm still thinking of how to draw water into the sump and returning it back in a foolproof manner....
