Hi guys,
Thankfully this isn't happening in my home (where my tank is) but in my studio. For some reason I keep getting power trips randomly, just doing nothing suddenly trip, when I flip back the mains everything goes back to normal... then maybe a while later or the next day, sometimes 1 week later trip again.
I don't get it, if it was a faulty appliance it would always trip right?
Help!

Hi guys,
I decided to get some red slime powder to combat a bout of cyano that I've been facing, I dosed the recommended amount yesterday and so far the only thing I noticed is the skimmer going crazy...
What am I supposed to see and how long before I can notice the cyano dissapearing?

my tank is in my bedroom too.. i'm ok with the noise and all it's the damn heat from the chiller which really gets to me sometimes...
as for canister, I would suggest against it, get a proper sump, build/order a proper stand, do it right the first time...
also, one of the best advice to give newbies is this, "if you are serious about the hobby, get the biggest tank you can afford". Why? Because sooner or later your hands will get itchy and you'll want to upgrade...
Trust me, I've been thru a 1ft cube with hang-on filter all the way to my current 2.5ft with sump and all that...

Planning to have a freshwater reservoir tank above the sump by gravity feed. Where can I buy good quality solenoid valve that can control by Automatic top up system?
hm... by gravity thru a solenoid? why not just get a dosing pump or any cheap pump will do?
You intend to tap the water straight from the mains?

follow these steps:
go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
open the file called "hosts" using wordpad
add these lines to the bottom
65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net
save and exit
open MSN, it should work

put a sps lor. strong current and strong light...that's the best ingredient.
If you put a hammer there, with strong current, eventually it will lose it's head.
May be a RBTA if you like anemonie. They love strong current and strong light.
I also tot of SPS but I don't think I wanna venture into SPS again... haha budget budget... nvm lah i see what comes along then...

frogspawn and hammer confirm ok.. not too sure for torch though.. anyone can confirm with that.. i encounter torch having war with hammer...
i believe torch, hammer, anchor, frogspawn all belong to the same family/group and can be placed together...
bubbles is a no no next to them...

Hi guys,
I never had problems with Shrooms and Zoos but recently it seems that they look like they are becoming smaller and slowly wiltering away...
None of the other corals look like they are in any trouble... any idea what's happening?

Hi guys,
What LPS likes strong currents huh? There's a spot in my tank which most corals don't seem to do well in because of the wavemaker pointing at the spot (can't really redirect the wavemaker)..
Any recommendations?

Hey thanks... actually I'm not looking forward to visiting their capital... will want to go to the less populated areas to check out the scenery and stuff...
Only problem is now there are no direct flights (budget) that I know of that go straight to Laos... grumble...
Will probably go in from the Thai border up north then make my way down to Vientienne and stop along the way or something...
I also heard it's super laid back... haha that's great!

the only way to get rid of it is surface skimming, or overflow bro... last time before I got my overflow I cleaned it up with some disposable kitchen towels, let it just sit on the water surface to soak up the protein layer then dispose...
but IMO get the overflow or surface skimmer or surface agitation (not advisable, salt spray)

people generally don't advise you to feed them to FW fish coz they are known to carry all sorts of bad stuff... so I think it's a no no to SW as well...
Besides, they die too quickly to be of much use in SW...
(although I feed my FW fishes with it, my discus refuse to eat anything else)
