  5. I got this @ 2 years ago for FIVE dollars. During then, no one talks @ acan and can diff it from blasto. Now, her value has gone UP UP UP!!!  ;) and I can't afford blasto also  :D

    U know what.

Send send a small bag of seawater without anything and it cost u more than USD $5. U not only got a steal and probably u are a few step a head before the AVA officer spot checks..... ;):yeah::yeah::yeah: Why would a LFS want to bring in stuffs and sell at a lost??

Don't tell me you got this from Singapore Waters? LOL

Frag and sell. Acans have good survival rate but is only limited to certain areas along the indo-pacific zones. You don't find acans in Fiji or pacific islands.

    :cry::P Max

  6. Is all photo taken at the same place? right before the tapered portion of the chamber......just before the collection cup?

Let me know before I make a guess, else no meaning B)

All skimmer should be design to have smallest bubbles upto the tapered portion of upper reaction chamber.

Having said that, tuning plays a important factor

Regarding Beckett having a longer chamber and bubble sizes increasing up the chamber - answer is yes & no

Well Beckett have a much smaller diameter chamber compare to BK, so overall volume/size is the same. In any case the height will also depend on pump driving the beckett. Naturally a taller beckett suppose to use a bigger pump to drive it. That's why I cannot understand the logic that so many newbie out there that build 6ft beckett and run it with a Resun MD40 or MD55  What we call penny wise pound foolish.

And also there is a big diffeerence between External & Internal Needle Wheel. The external model BK/Deltec (AP1004 type model) uses a feeding pump and the needle wheel pumps to recirculate many times of whatever water volume being pumped in. For Internal Needle Wheel & Beckett, the water processing is single turn. Base on theory assuming all tuning is 100% perfect, a external needle wheel skimmer is much more efficient than the internal model.

    :thanks:

  7. Anyone seem 2" - 3" blue tang, & any kole tang spotted.

Seems like kole tang selling like hot cakes.

Lots of Blue Tang every week at Iwarna lah, sometime more than 200....u can't find......cannot be?

Kole Tangs of Hawaii next week 17th December S/M/L

AT, Chervon, Super small size flames, Gold Fakes

Kole Tangs of Sulawesi & PNG - quite a number at Iwarna now - 30~50pcs

    B)

  8. Not to sound too negative or pessimistic but I seriously doubt it.

AT's are very difficult tangs to keep alive and well in captivity for more than several months. The few reefers I know that managed to, that have fat and healthy AT's, they feed them a variety of food several times a day. And they have mega-sized super beckett skimmers. Their tanks range from 4 to 6ft. A 6ft tank or larger would be ideal.

I personally know of only one reefer in SG that has kept an AT for over a year.

We should invite HON to make commends. His AT more than 1 year or 2 yrs?

BTW, he never feed his fishes at all.

Wonder what type magic he has.

Tank setup & Conditoin is important for this fish

  9. Max, Im running the reactor with ARM at the present moment and about 10% MG Pro. ;)

What are the advantages of switching over to Deltec media? Higher Kh? No mush when the media has expired?

One thing I left out about today's reef tank and salt mix.

Most current salt mix creates high dkh but relatively low to avg calcium.

A CR creates slightly higer dkh than Ca

So what's the conclusion? U end up high dkh and low Ca.

Some of you will have low dkh & relatively ok Ca 380 +

U find SPS cannot color up :erm:

    Why....why...tell me why?

Well yor system is not stable and reactor is not good enough

So Alfa, u change to Deltec from Aqua Medic?

U will see your dkh climb and climb....it will take some time.

Since u use ARM, u will likely end up with higher dkh than Ca. I guess this is what u want right? U stated u have major dkh problems compare to Ca right.

I've a different set of problem.

My salt mix have high dkh and CR give out higher dkh than CA

So I end up with too high dkh

for me to hit Ca 420, my dkh is 13 :yeah:

So I swap to Rowalith C+ and my dkh drop to 8.5 or 9 and Ca 420+

BTW, I also swap salt mix to Tropic Marine Pro Reef. I think this the BEST for me now and best result...without RTN after swap of 30%...ready amazes me. But the price are TERRIBLY expensive. Is the AGENT READING this? PLEASE DROP your price :yeah::angel:

Well it all depends on individual tank setup.

    :snore:

  10. Spoke to personally to a german reefer ###### online owner that the Rowalith C+ will give some problems in calcium reactors. Do not know how true is it but surprisingly, he is actually selling the Rowalith C+ himself and yet he does not recommend it. The reason he gave was difficult to understand as their english is not to good.

I can tell what problem he run into. Your supplier NOT very experience lah......................... ;)

First of all he did a lot of wrong stuffs.

First Deltec Media is smaller & lighter than ARM, being pre-processed.

It is not as dirty as ARM. Don't believe...go wash it & see for yourself lah....don;t say I bullshit.

The purpose of fluidised reactor is to push the media up and keep it rotating or moving.

PH cannot be set too low like the normal reactor.

You cannot over fill the reactor.

Your cannot open the CO2 recirculation valve unless your PH is set very high, else it will melt down your media even with PH 6.99..............u don't believe it...go try it yourself and tell me B)

Most reefers, including the european so "CALLED" expert open the CO@ recirculation valve.....so it run into melt down.

Some reefers open thw ball valve of Pump max during start off and have all the media suck into pump, destroying the impellor. THe Deltec Reactor has a strong suction from the pump base on design and pump placement. It is not just the pump size. Get a Chemical process engineer that runs a Petrol chemical plant and he will tell you why is it so.....I don't know as well till my wife tell me so  You need to open the valve to max only overtime of weeks to days....depending on how much u load yr reactor.

So the above are last 2 highlights that are common mistake all reefers make.

I find my tank has a higher dkh running ARM. dkh 10~11 and Calcium 380~400

When I run Rowalith C+ = my dkh is 8.5 and Calcium is 420 at a 0.5 higher PH value. Anyway I run out of Rowalith myself, have been using ARM. Not too sure of the price. But is price is competitive for ARM ->...then it is definitely money for value. U don;t need to drive a ferrari from point to point right? waste money lah.

Weisoon. I know the person u talk to in Europe. He's a nice guy, but knowledge why he's so..so lah. He was once saying Aquaconnect 14K bulb is no good, now he post in RC that AC 14K is the best.....I guess ........monkey see monkey do right?

I still like my Deltec CR & Bubble King Needle Wheel anyday against Backett or any other CR. Well If you can afford it why not, else DIY the same design can be a exciting pastime. It is a personal thing NOTHING TO COMPARE ABOUT.

BUT a Super Reef Tank is not just about equipment lah, so don't get over endorse with best of best stuffs. It all come from the HEART :paiseh: & PASSION for this hobby. Best equipment will not get you no where without thePASSION & HEART for regular, consistent commitment. Wei-sson ...this statement is not for you lah....U are one crazy reefer I know that go all the way out :o Well u have a deeper procket than I do :whistle

Sorry, I'm a straight shooter...........words might be too strong for your european friend......but that's the truth. State base on what u see not what people say so

Alfa: I think above answer your questions right?

You can do a price comparison and see if ARM is way too cheap against Rowa?

I've not idea of the above 2 prices as I get both direct from my customer in Europe......so cannot compare to local.

    :thanks:

  11. Max, can detail whats the difference between ARM and Deltec CR Media pls? :)

Alfa u running yr new deltec PF1000S..........soon you will know why Deltec Media is more superior. I guess a lot of reefers already realised that...........but u have to pay for higher price premium

    ;)

    3?

Well this is about the ONLY rare fish I dont see here.

How about a Clarion X Passer?

    Maculosus X Koran

U want rare Angels & Rare Tangs?

    All Price start @ $1XXX to $2XXX

All potential local buyer wants to see first :erm:

Rare Fish shipped_in from countries as far as Axxxxxxxx & Mxxxxxxxx and most buyers want to see first before buying?

So who want to bring in unless is fully pay for and DOA is on buyers risk, since profit is damn low, risk is high and collector is smiling for the $ u just paid :heh:

If you care to wait for 1 year, within 1 year, u can definitely get it.

    :)

  15. hi,

I want to get a RED SEA regal angel (Pygoplites diacanthus). One lfs had quoted me $40+ for it, abt 4" wif orange belly. Not too sure is the true red sea one. Any comments from fellow reefers? <_<

orange- yellow belly is from redsea or Sri lanka.

yellow from india ocean all the way to PNG. Australia & Fiji also same type.

    matt white belly is indonesia

  16. Market Prawns? Provided you chop into fine pieces or minced it.

Usually I squirt cyclopeeze on top of their mouths. :)

Yes, this the quickest way to get HAIR ALGAE in for a celebration........:evil:

    Just a joke :D

U need mature tank in the first place.

Feeding LPS can be messy, unless u switch off all the pumps.

  17. DB, the acans u posted is extremely familiar!!

IT was brought in 4+ mths back at ###### when I was still there....I think pass thru a few hands....I suppose?

You know what the price for that color in USA?

FYI: Price is start of 3 digit in USD per polyp. I mean per polyp & NOT per Rock

    B)

  18. I'm from Dunman Sec

The thing is that usually the LFS keep nice strains for themselves so it defeats the purpose of trying to reproduce nice strains as a brood stock.

Well its not part of the syllabus but students as well as external researchers are going to be involved

2006 MACNA and IMAC I'll be going... :eyebrow:

    Your motive is great

Your Statement makes you look very swallow.

Don't mean to be rude, just being direct before u start contacting collectors for "Nice Strains"

There's no such thing as nice strain or colors being kept by LFS for themselves.

Nice Strains or Colors? Species dependent. Sometimes the unique colors come in 1:100, 1:1000, 1:10K or 1:10M

Come on. Tell me your plans or how deep your Wallet to purchase only the so called "Nice Strains"? Might not make sense.

If you want to challenge yourself. I suggest if you might want to research into how to change coral colors.......it might more commerical sense & U may end up a millionaire :D and I'll be your first customer

I think you need to know more about this industry :snore:

    Max

  19. Maxima,

PM me the pricing for the complete setup ....

Plse PM Edmund for price. Not handling this anymore.

    :thanks: Max

I think PM is bigger in size than Korallin, performance wise, PM should have an edge, but it uses pump that draws a higher power, so naturally push & pull thru the media more turns per hr -better thru put
