  1. Bro for me no matter what sequence I introduce the tangs, bound to have aggressive ones that will bully the newcomer..

so what i do is to trap out and isolate the aggressive ones and let the newcomer settle down and feed well before releasing the aggressive ones back to the display tank..

  2. My DIY setup as exactly copy from the above and the Tap water will run thru the ION exchange than follow into the Activated carbon. So it is like 2 stage purifying.

However, the question here is which stage to run first. Madpet advise was to run Carbon before the ION. But I did the reverse and the results still measuring as zero.

Hopefully, I am doing the right way...thks

I am using the 3-stage DI unit from Madpetz.. 1st stage carbon cartridge and another 2 stages of DI resins.

What I noticed is that fine carbon particles get trapped in the DI resin stages.. more carbon particles found in the 2nd stage

immediately after the carbon stage, and much lesser carbon found in the 3rd stage of DI resins.

I believe you get the same result of zero measurement regardless whether carbon is 1st or last, just that you get lesser fine carbon particles going into your tank if you put carbon as the 1st stage. However, this is only applicable to those commercial

units where untreated tap water is forced through the DI unit canisters.

  3. Should I put rowaphos now in the reactor n run?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cycle your tank 1st bro... no need to run rowaphos now...

You can dose bacteria to speed up the cycling process.

Looks like your tank is done by AA Vincent :)

  4. Bro Kenyee, I only have success with AT on the 3rd attempt, which i treated the DT with Cupramine :P

since you are dosing copper it should not be considered difficult .. but u need to get a bigger one :D

Golden Angel has survived for more than 2 months.. not feeding prepared food but pecking on rocks only :(

Multibar I just acquired from Iwarna last Sunday.. not feeding yet but is very active.. not shy and does not hide among the rocks..

hope it will start feeding.. keeping my fingers crossed..

  5. I started this marine hobby in 1996... I still consider myself a noob as there are so much to learn from others' experiences..

and I am learning from a fellow reefer who started this hobby much later than me but gave me solid advises that works :)

  6. Dude, I'm not trying to be a smart as$ here but though your reply may be technically correct, it is bad advice. why? First of all, did you check with the threadstarter on his tank size, and is it suitable to keep a trigger/puffer? And also is he keeping a reef or fowlr tank? Do you know that both fishes are not reef safe? Might as well suggest an octopus while you're at it. Not trying to insult you here but while the threadstarter may be wise enough not to heed your unpractical advice, other newbies reading this post may be clueless (or ignorant) and go ahead with your advice. Will you be responsible for their tanks if it crash? What if the trigger attacks other tank mates? Its easy to give advice but one should be practical and realistic to the kind of advice given. I'm posting this so as to let other newbies know and not just follow advice given blindly.

Have to agree with Firestarter that it is not a good idea to introduce puffer or trigger fish for the purpose of eradicating crabs.

Trigger fish is probably suitable for FOWLR with large fishes as they can be agressive and attack other small fishes. I have had a Picasso that killed my green chromis.

As for puffer, if it dies in the tank it might release toxin and crash the entire tank..

You can try to DIY a crab trap and buy commercially available pest traps such as:

    Reeftech Pest Trap:

I tried this when I started my current tank and was able to trap a few small crabs. You can place it near the live rocks where

the crabs are known to live in.. not necessary have to place it flat at the bottom of the tank.

  7. 160 Neo Tiew Road

Its really near lck201 but easy to miss, keep a close look for it. :)

    Refer to this thread bro...

You can't find 160 Neo Tiew Road on Google Map or Street Directory, it will point to middle of nowhere of Neo Tiew Rd.

If using GPS to navigate you have to use 161 Neo Tiew Road.

    LCK201.jpg

This is how the entrance to 161 Neo Tiew Rd looks like.. drive abit faster u will sure miss it!

There are 3 buildings at this plot.. Ah Bac is the 1st one on the right side when you enter from Neo Tiew Rd.

  8. Previously I had my Marine Tank in my bedroom and it was placed under the Aircon fancoil, and after awhile the metal parts in the fancoil all turned rusty.

Perhaps you can consider what Thomas suggested, but definitely not directly above the tank.

At least you don't have to worry one day the compressor may collapse and smash your tank... but before that could happen

your compressor mostly likely will be damaged due to rust.

Safety 1st bro.. hope to see your awesome tank soon .. cheers :)
