  4. Hi all, i agree its not the best thing to 'cage' up the anemone in a separate tank. I did it for a simple reason... in the event, it starts to melt, it'll be easier for me to retrieve it and dispose. Hi Remus, I'm using a JBJ nano cube... so the lights aren't very bright.. so I worry if it goes hiding again in the dark hole.. it will eventually die in there. I'd really like to let it back into the main tank again...will it go hiding again? Just not sure if my decision to buy it was a mistake... since my tank just isn't suitable for it.. regards...
  5. Hi, thanks everyone for their valuable advise. I was worried that the fellow will die in the dark hole so I had to remove all my LR to reach it... it stuck itself firmly to a piece of rock... took me a while to separate them.. I did not want to leave it in the dark hole cos there is hardly any light nor flow in there... so its only a matter of time before it kicks the bucket had to rescape my LR while dragging it out.. now that i got it out, I placed it in a separation tank within the main tank i place it nearer the light and closer to the pump outlet... giving it more light and flow... it seems ok in this new position.... but i'm still monitoring it closely. if it starts to shrink.. I have to release it back into the main tank. Gave it a slice of market fish, it ate it up and spit it out... hmm... have to try other food type like prawns... cheers...
  6. Hi folks, just got myself a small bubble anemone over the wkend from Pasir Ris... the first time i introduced it to my tank.. it just kinda of stay put but the tentacles were mostly shrunk and closed. my clown fish just circle around it.. but did not go near till evening. the following morning... i find the anemone hiding deep within my LRs. from where its hiding ... its getting minimum flow and lighting. Is this anemone a goner? Anything i can do to improve the situation? how to coax it out of the LR? I hate to see the fellow die in the hole... Pls help... thanks!
  7. Any pictures of your frogspawn? Thanks!
  8. some pictures to help.... from the picture ... you can see the green and white sand contrast.. plus the tiny bubbles...
  9. Hi all, need your advise on whether I have an algae infestation problem on hand.. Background : Tank - 24 gallon JBJ nano cube Chiller - Resun CL280 Skimmer - Nano fission skimmer Temp - 28 degrees LS - 1 yellow tang, 2 clown fish, 1 algae blenny, 1 blue devil, 3 snails, 2 sand star 1 orange star 1 blue star plus live rocks + sand Problem : My sand has been turning green in recent weeks with lots of tiny bubbles. The algae blenny has been eating the algae but it prefers to eat those on the glass. Another possible culprit is over-feeding because I've been feeding the yellow tang a piece of seaweed each evening and that yellow tang has been giving out waste like there's no tomorrow. Already tried changing the water to reduce the algae but its only helping slightly. What can i do to improve the situation? would adding a blue/red leg hermit crab to the tank help to control the algae problem and reduce the yellow tang waste material? Pls advise.. many thanks in advance.
  10. I second David's comment abt the Nano fission skimmer. Suck big time....difficult to use cos the parts keep falling apart and the water level must be at a particular level.. Even when its working... all you get is wet skimmate. Most of reefers get foul smelling skimmate... but the stuff pulled out by the nano fission skimmer is scent-less. Not even sure if its working.... regret getting this Maybe those skimmer from Dymax might do a better job and they cost lesser too.

  16. Hi... I thought abt that too... but I searched everywhere... and its being a week since they disappeared... still have not seen them. some suggested that the clown fish attack them after they molted ... just when their shell is soft... but clown fish attacking shrimps?!? never hear about this before...
