  10. Hey folks, wants to sell the whole tank system for $200. The tank was given to me by a fellow reefer who had it for 2 years. But as i am busy with my work and current RSM tank, i dont forsee myself maintaining another tank. Also i am a newbie to reefing, hence dont want to stress myself out with 2 tanks. Why $200. i dont make any profit out of this sale. 1. i paid $110 for the transportation fees for bringing the tank over to me place. 2. I ordered a new sump tank at $90 as i found the previous one had some "work-flow" flaws. hence i am selling the whole system at the sum i paid for it. Conditions of sale. 1. i will only sell the entire tank system and not in assorted form. 2. U must arrange to collect it with your transportation crew in ONE go. 3. i want to let it go before CNY. i am staying at Lavender. PM me if really interested, thanks. Following is the picture of the tank with cabinent.
  11. , your turbo doing a GREAT job ??? U can try Sally Lightfoot Crab and Blue-Legged Hermit Crab, these are rather good algae crew but lesser efficient than turbo. They just dont eat that much and that fast !
  12. compare to the one selling at AM, ARTIC PODS, which is better ?
  13. ya lah, mantis do makes those "clicking" noise. For the past 1 week i eradicated 2 mantis shrimps and 1 hitch-hiker crab from my tank. First mantis shrimp was caught when it popped out for a breather amongst my polyps. Saw it, quickly lifted up my polyps out of the tank, same time maintain visual contact of the mantis in case it slipped off to another rock nearby. Flush it out quickly with fresh water, it was stunned for a while. Quickly put my polyps back to the tank. Thats where i slowly "drowned" the mantis in tap water, but the bugger damn tough, still kicking after afew minutes. (so much for those who suggested FW dip). So i boiled the bugger with hot water. Then i had peace and gratification for the next few days until the damn "clicking" sound came back This time, i was on a stake out for a straight 2 hours infront of my tank, flooding it with RX food slowly and hopping for the bugger to come out. And it did. I rushed to picked up the whole slab of rock and dashed to the sink. Got the bugger out, spurt a dash of Mama lemon, hot water and then tap water. meantime, the collateral damage was a crab which happens to be on that slab of rock. Since that fateful day, my tank had been peaceful. No sudden deaths, no sudden disappearance of gobies and shrimps
  14. Reeftask, i agree with your statement, thanks for the input. All those that had contributed, thanks for your input too,
  15. any LFS is reputable for high quality cured LR? Hopefully without those notorious hitch-hikers clining to it? anyone ?
  16. hi fellow reefers, anyone able to give some advice. 1. How to ensure that those cured LR that we purchased from LFS is free from hitch-hikers like mantis and psitol shrimp? 2. How to tell physically a LR is cured or not ? 3. How to cure a uncured LR on our own? 4. How to ensure the cured LR that we are about to put into the tank is free from those unwanted hitch hikers? thanks in advance !
  17. it could be pistol or mantis shrimps burrowing through the LR.
  18. personally i havent heard the mantis trap actually traps any mantis. most of the successful stories comes from a stakeout and wipe-out concept. blood the tank with meaty stuff, wait for it to surface (sometimes it dont ), once its out, localise its position and take that piece of rock out, boil it, flush it or throw it away . So save your $10 and disappointment that comes with it, do a stakeout and wipe-out approach. Labour and time consuming but the rewards is ....... your LS are henceforth SAFE !!!
  19. saw your collection of marco algae, is there a possibility of them going asexual?
  20. i have seen Clarkii Clown whacked just molted shrimps. thats one possibility. The other, any mantis or pistol shrimp in your tank?
  21. they are reef safe but needs to be fed at least twice a day. highly active fishes.
  22. so is this an ozoniser by itself or it resides with the skimmer? i am pretty much a newbie
  23. for active carbon to be effective in increasing the clarity of water, does it has to be used in the FR or simply those off the shelf in filter bag? And those ozoniser, any recommendations to which skimmer has the most effective ones without burning a hole in the pocket of an average Joe ?
