McNugget
Took an interest to clams after visiting numerous LFS and looking at the amazingly beautiful photos of clams in the forums. Had some difficulty identifying the different types of clams, Tridacna squamosa/maxima/crocea/derasa/gigas, hence i went around surfing for related information (cant find much though). I happened to chance upon this webby which i thought it's good to share: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-07/jf/feature/index.php Can senior clam reefers share some of ways of identifying the different types of clams? (It would be good if pictures are illustrated tgt with the explanation). Many thanks!!

Eniram
Hi bro, I'm still kinda confused after reading the article.. Hence was wondering if some senior reefers here can share some simplified explanation with pictures.. Basically clam species are identified via the shape of it's shell, maxima clams have a more tight narrow spacing of ribs as for cocea clams the ribs are further apart and it's got a smoother appearance. Lol.....hope this helps...if not...time to bring bf to visit lfs
